About Us

Specs and prices across every category, read from the stores.

Shopping online gets harder as the choices multiply and clear answers get scarce. Wiki Shopping is here to make it simple: our technology reads product listings from the stores and keeps them current, and our writers explain what the specs mean, so the right choice is easy to see.

Every product on a page comes from a store listing. We read the specs the store publishes and compare them across the page.

A filter means exactly what it says: the 64GB page shows only 64GB laptops, and listings whose title disagrees with their specs are left out.

The order comes from data, not payment.

Start from all categories or a popular product type such as Shoes, Laptops and Cameras. Our Learn articles explain the specs behind each filter, and our shopping tips cover returns, store rules and how prices move.

Who runs Wiki Shopping

Wiki Shopping was founded by Paul Syverson, a writer, editor and computer enthusiast with a long background in gaming hardware and content creation. Paul started Wiki Shopping to help shoppers get a clear answer before they spend, with the specs and prices of every category set side by side.

How commission affects what we publish

It does not, and that is enforced in the code rather than promised here: commission never affects an order, a score, or a number, and every such link says what it is at the link itself. Prices are read from a provider's own interface and shown with the time they were read; they go out of date, and the page says when. A price on this site is a record of what was seen at that moment, not an offer, and the seller's own price at the time of purchase is the one that applies.

How prices, scores and pros and cons on Wiki Shopping work

Prices

Every price on a product card shows the date and time we read it from the store, in Pacific time, for example “as of 10/23/2026 10:22 PDT”. Prices older than 24 hours are not shown.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.

Discounts

A discount appears only when the store sends an earlier price with the offer. We show the sale price, the percent saved and the earlier price struck through, with the store's own label: List (list price) or Was (an earlier price at that store).

Spec score

The spec score compares each product's listed specs with the best value among the products on the same page. The weighted average is mapped to a score from 7.0 to 9.5. A product needs at least two of these specs listed to get a score. It is not a lab test.

Pros and cons

Pros and cons come from the product's name and the specs in its listing, and nothing else. Every line is checked before it is shown: we leave out a line that states a number the listing does not have, talks about price, claims a rank such as “best”, praises a color, or talks about the listing instead of the product. A card shows up to three pros and two cons; a product with little data can have fewer, and some have no con.

The full list on a card also compares the product with the other products on the same page, using only the specs in its listing. A pro (+) there is a spec in the best 20 percent of the page, or a feature that fewer than 20 percent of the products have. A con (−) is a spec in the worst 20 percent, or a key part that most products on the page have and this one lacks. We compare a spec only when at least five products on the page list it.

Price is never a pro or a con, and we do not use customer reviews.

Order of products

Recommended, the order a page opens in, shows products on sale first (the bigger the percent saved, the higher), then products with at least three pros and one con, then products with at least three pros, then the rest. Inside each group, our system sets the order. You can also sort by price or by spec score.

Product data

Names, specs and images come from the stores' listings. When a listing's title disagrees with its own specs (for example a different RAM size), we leave it off the filter pages it would not belong on.

Other stores

Some products are also sold at other stores. Their details panel lists those stores by name, each with a Visit store button, without a price.
