Big Lots Store Hours: When Stores Open and Close
Every Big Lots in the store locator opens at 9 a.m. Monday to Saturday; most close at 8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Store hours change. This is a summary in our own words of the hours listed in Big Lots' own store locator and its FAQ page, read on October 26, 2026. Big Lots says hours vary by location, so check your store in the store locator or call it before you go.
The usual hours
Big Lots is now owned by Variety Wholesalers and is reopening stores, so the chain is smaller than it once was. Its locator listed 216 stores when we counted them, and the hours follow a clear pattern.

So the short answers are:
- What time does Big Lots open? 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday at every listed store. On Sunday, 10 a.m. at about seven in ten stores and 11 a.m. at the rest.
- What time does Big Lots close? 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, 9 p.m. at about two in three stores and 8 p.m. at the others. On Sunday, 8 p.m. at 151 stores and 7 p.m. at 64.
A few stores differ slightly; one closes at 9 p.m. every weekday and one closes at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. No store in the locator was listed as closed on any day of the week.
Where the stores are
The locator listed stores in 16 states, most of them in the Southeast, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. North Carolina had the most with 48, followed by Ohio (28), Pennsylvania (24), Virginia and Tennessee (18 each) and South Carolina (17). Big Lots' About page gives 219 stores in 15 states and says new locations are added to the locator as they open, so the count moves.
Holiday hours
The locator had no special holiday hours entered for any store on October 26, 2026. Hours for Thanksgiving and Christmas were not listed; check the locator or call your store closer to the date.
Before you go
- In store only. Big Lots says it currently sells in stores only; there is no online shopping and no online inventory check.
- Call to check stock. Selection varies by store and closeout items may not come back, so Big Lots suggests calling your store to ask whether an item is there. New merchandise arrives weekly.
- Furniture delivery. Many stores offer delivery through a third-party company, priced by that company. Assembly is not offered.
