Office Depot Price Match Policy, Explained
Office Depot and OfficeMax match a lower price on an identical, in-stock item at a qualifying retailer at checkout or up to 14 days after you buy.

Does Office Depot price match?
Yes. Office Depot calls it the Price Match Guarantee. It covers Office Depot and OfficeMax stores in the 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, plus OfficeDepot.com. If a qualifying retailer sells a new, identical, in-stock item for less, Office Depot matches that price or refunds the difference. The page does not publish a list of the retailers it counts as qualifying, so ask the store before you rely on one.

How the price is compared
Office Depot compares final prices. On its side, that is what you pay after discounts, coupons, instant savings and mail-in savings. On the competitor's side, it takes the point-of-sale price after the competitor's instant savings, instant rebates and coupons. A competitor's mail-in rebate does not count, and Office Depot will not subtract the value of a gift with purchase.
For items sold with a service plan, such as wireless devices, the plan, the provider and its terms must all be the same.
What you need to show
Bring proof that shows both the price and the model number. Office Depot accepts:
- a printed ad from the competitor
- printed in-store signage, or a photo of it
- a receipt for the item from the competitor
- the online offer on your phone
Copy and custom printing jobs need a printed quote. Office Depot may contact the competitor to confirm the price.
In store or online
- In store: show the proof at the register.
- Online: call Customer Care at 1-800-463-3768 or start a chat, and share the same kind of proof.
What Office Depot will not match
The page lists these exclusions:
- marketplace items sold or shipped by third parties, on OfficeDepot.com or a competitor's site
- ad errors and price errors
- closeout, clearance and liquidation items
- out-of-stock items
- special orders, location-specific offers and gift card offers
- holiday sale offers, Black Friday and Cyber Monday included
- tax promotions
- Office Depot catalog items, online-only and in-store-only specials
- items for Office Depot contract customers and Business Select items
- services that include delivery, installation and extended warranties
Office Depot also says it can change or cancel the guarantee at any time, effective once posted on its site.
Tips before you ask
- Check the date. Buy now and keep your receipt; you have 14 days to come back with a lower price.
- Skip the holiday weekends. Black Friday and Cyber Monday offers are excluded, so compare prices before that week.
- Match the exact model. A similar printer or chair with a different model number will not qualify.
