Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of PetSmart's Price Match Promise and Pricing help pages, read on October 26, 2026. The official pages are the ones that apply; check them, or ask a store associate, before you count on a match.

Does PetSmart price match?

Yes. PetSmart calls it the Price Match Promise. If you find an identical item that is in stock at a competitor for less, PetSmart says it will match that price. The competitor's price has to be active and valid at the moment you ask, and you need proof of it.

Does PetSmart match Chewy?

The help page does not name any competitor, Chewy included. It describes the sellers it covers by type: direct sellers in pet specialty, grocery, pharmacy and big-box retail, with prices taken from their stores or their official websites. What it rules out are marketplaces, resellers and aggregators. If you want to match a price from Chewy or any other online pet store, bring the product page on your phone and ask the associate whether that seller qualifies, since the page tells shoppers to see a store associate for more details.

What PetSmart will not match

The page lists these exclusions:

  • Marketplaces, with eBay, Amazon Marketplace, Walmart Marketplace and Temu given as examples
  • Auction and reseller sites
  • Price aggregators
  • Closeout and discount outlets
  • Clearance, liquidation and other special event prices
  • Free with purchase and buy one, get one free offers
  • Prices that depend on a rebate
  • Pets and services, such as grooming

Online prices and sales

PetSmart's Pricing page says online prices, offers and selection can differ from those in stores, and that website-only promotions are usually labeled Online Only. When an advertised sale starts, PetSmart says it goes live online at 6:00 a.m. Eastern on the first day, though the start time can vary by promotion, and the ad itself states how long the sale runs. PetSmart also reserves the right to limit or refuse sales to resellers.

Because PetSmart matches its own website price for in-store purchases, it is worth checking PetSmart.com on your phone before you pay at the register.

How to ask for a match

  1. Find the identical item. Same brand, product, size and flavor, in stock at the competitor.
  2. Get proof. A receipt, an ad or the competitor's product page showing the current price.
  3. Show it at checkout. Ask the store associate, who can explain any local details.
