Staples Price Match Policy, Explained
Staples matches lower prices from named competitors, Amazon.com included, on identical new items in stock, and refunds the difference within 14 days.

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of the Staples Price Match Guarantee policies, read on October 26, 2026. The official page is the one that applies; check it before you ask for a match.
Does Staples price match?
Yes. Staples has three versions of its Price Match Guarantee: one for its stores, one for Staples.com, and one for custom print products. In each case the item has to be identical (same brand, size, weight, color, quantity, model number and warranty), new, in stock and available at the lower price from a qualifying competitor.

Does Staples price match Amazon?
Yes, Amazon.com is on both the store list and the Staples.com list. The catch is marketplace sellers: Staples will not match items sold or shipped by third parties on a competitor's website, so the Amazon price has to come from an offer that is not a third-party listing.
How to ask for a match
- In a store. Show the competitor's ad, in-store sign, a photo of the sign or the online offer on your phone, with price, model number and features. Screenshots are fine if they show the full offer, including product details, price and offer dates, legibly.
- On Staples.com. Call Customer Service at 1-800-333-3330 with the competitor's name and website and the product details. Screenshots and pictures are not accepted for online orders.
- Custom print. Bring a quote, invoice or receipt dated within 30 days, or the competitor's online offer. For Staples.com print orders, Staples asks you to email its Print and Marketing Services team.
After you buy: the 14-day refund
If you bought an item in a Staples store and find it cheaper at a Staples store or on Staples.com within 14 days, Staples refunds the difference; bring a receipt dated within 14 days. For Staples.com orders, the 14-day refund covers a lower Staples.com price, and for buy online, pick up in store orders, a lower in-store price too. Otherwise Staples.com does not match its own store prices.
What Staples will not match
- Warranties, gift cards, phone cards, postage and promotional products
- Tech services, shipping services, passport and TSA PreCheck services
- Direct mail, design, shredding, scanning and faxing services, and self-service purchases
- Ad, price and typing errors
- Closeout, clearance and liquidation items, and out-of-stock items
- A competitor's mail-in rebates
- Holiday sale offers, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday
- Products offered to Staples Business customers
Limits
- One competitor price match per item, per customer, per day.
- The match is on the pre-tax price; Staples does not adjust sales tax.
- If the competitor's price needs a certain quantity, you must buy the same quantity at Staples.
- Items sold with a service plan, such as laptops and printers, need an identical plan, provider and terms.
Staples can verify the competitor, price, specs and stock, decline a request it cannot verify, and change the policy at any time.
