Target Price Adjustment After a Price Drop
If Target lowers its own price within 14 days of your purchase, you can ask for the difference; holiday buys get until December 24.

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of Target's Price Match Guarantee help pages, read on October 26, 2026. The official pages are the ones that apply; check them before you ask for a refund of the difference.
The 14-day rule
Target's price match covers its own prices. If you buy a qualifying item and then find the identical item for less at Target.com, in a Target store or as a Target Circle deal, Target will match it. You can ask at the time you buy or within 14 days after the purchase. For an adjustment after the sale, you need the original receipt (paper or digital) or the packing slip.
Target matches its store price on a Target.com order and its online price on a store purchase. It does not match one Target store's price to another store's.
Holiday price match for 2026
Target runs a longer window for the holidays. For an item bought from November 1, 2026 onward, if Target's price goes lower on or before December 24, 2026, you can request the difference.

How to ask
- Store purchase: go to Guest Services (or ask at checkout) with your receipt and show the lower price on your phone from Target.com, the Target app or the digital weekly ad.
- Online purchase: chat with Target online or call Guest Services at 1-800-591-3869, with your order number ready.
Target says screenshots and photos are not accepted as proof; a team member checks the live price. When you use the Target app as proof, it must show the price for the store you are standing in. The item must match exactly: brand, size, weight, color, quantity and model number. It does not have to be in stock.
What does not qualify
Target lists many exclusions. The main ones:
- Clearance, closeout and liquidation prices.
- Damaged, used, open package, refurbished and pre-owned items.
- Pricing mistakes from typos.
- Target Circle Bonuses you tap to add, Target coupons and Registry completion coupons.
- Purchases with a promotional Target GiftCard, or items that now come with one.
- Gift card, credit card, bundle, free item and rebate offers, and deals that need a minimum spend.
- Contract phones, optical, warranties and other services, pharmacy and clinic purchases, and pre-orders.
Price matches on Target.com prices are not available in Alaska and Hawaii. Target Plus partner items follow their own policy: they match only the same partner's lower Target.com price, by phone with Guest Services, and cannot be matched to Target-sold items.
Coupons and the Circle Card
Manufacturer coupons are applied after the match, in stores only. Target Circle deals that apply automatically can be matched if you show membership. Paying with a Target Circle Card still gives its 5% discount on a price-matched item.
