If Best Buy lowers its own price during your return and exchange period, you can ask it to match the new price, more than once.

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of Best Buy's Price Match Guarantee page and its questions and answers, read on October 26, 2026 (the policy shows an effective date of September 2, 2026). The official pages are the ones that apply; check them before you ask.

The short answer

Best Buy does not use the words "price adjustment", but its Price Match Guarantee covers the same thing. If Best Buy lowers its own store, online or app price on something you bought while you are still inside the return and exchange period, it will match the lower price when you ask. It does not happen on its own; you have to request it.

How long you have

The window is the return and exchange period from the return policy page.

My Best Buy Plus and Total members60 days14 days

The return policy says the period starts on the day you receive the product. Best Buy also says you can ask for a match more than once during that period, as long as every other condition is met.

What qualifies

  • New items sold by Best Buy itself.
  • The lower price must be available to all customers, not a members-only or loyalty price.
  • The match is on the pre-tax price. Shipping charges are not part of the comparison.

Clearance, open-box, refurbished and pre-owned items are left out, as are Marketplace items from third-party sellers. Bundles, coupon offers, gift card offers, financing offers, limited-quantity and out-of-stock deals are excluded too. You can use a coupon or a price match on an item, not both.

A lower price at another retailer counts only at the time of sale, and only from a store on Best Buy's Qualified Competitors list. After you buy, the match covers Best Buy's own lower price.

How to ask

  1. Online orders. Use Best Buy Chat or call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289). Best Buy says online orders cannot be price matched in a store or by email, and only the purchaser named on the order can ask by chat. Once an order arrives, its Order Details page shows a See details link for price match availability.
  2. Store purchases. Go to the Customer Service desk or ask a Customer Specialist at any Best Buy or Pacific Sales store.

Special cases

  • Before delivery. If Best Buy drops the price of an item before its scheduled delivery date, it says it refunds the full difference, tax included. You have to call 1-888-BEST BUY to get it.
  • Pre-orders. If the price is lower when the item ships, you are charged the lower price automatically.
  • Sales tax holidays. Best Buy will not match a purchase made before a tax holiday when the pre-tax price during the event is the same or higher.
  • Store Pickup. An online order picked up in a store can be matched if the item is cheaper online or in that store at pickup.
