How Amazon Delivery Dates Work
Amazon estimates delivery by adding transit time, in business days, to the day an order ships; the date in the order confirmation email is final.

How the date is worked out
Amazon says it estimates delivery by adding transit time to the shipping date. Transit time depends on the shipping speed you pick, and Amazon counts it in business days: weekends are left out and holidays are taken into account. The exception is when checkout offers a weekend delivery option.
If an item is out of stock or cannot ship right away, the clock starts when the item ships, not when you order. Amazon's example: Two-Day Delivery takes two business days after the item ships.
The "order within" countdown
Some product pages show an "order within" countdown. Amazon says this is the time left to place the order and still get the date shown. The date can change before you order, for example if stock or delivery capacity changes. Your order confirmation email has the final delivery date.
Delivery windows on the day
On delivery day, the tracker in Your Orders may show an Estimated Delivery Window. Amazon describes these as two-to-four-hour windows. They are not guaranteed: traffic and other outside factors can move them, and a package can come before or after the window.
Guaranteed delivery
Some delivery speeds and products come with guaranteed delivery, which Amazon states on the checkout page with the date and cost. If a delivery attempt is not made by a guaranteed date, Amazon says it refunds the shipping fees for that order.
What can push the date back
- Weather and other delays. Amazon notes that unexpected delays such as bad weather add 2 to 3 business days.
- Larger quantities. Ordering more units can make an item ineligible for One-Day Delivery when the units are not all available nearby.
- Third-party sellers. Dates can vary for items from Marketplace sellers; Amazon suggests contacting the seller.
- International orders. Customs can delay them.
