Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of the return policy on the Bass Pro Shops help center, read on October 27, 2026. The official page is the one that applies; check it before you return anything.

How long you have

Bass Pro Shops says you can return items bought in a store, from the catalog or online for an exchange or a refund within 60 days of purchase, with valid proof of purchase, by mail or in a store. After 60 days, returns are taken only after an inspection.

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's are one company for returns: you can take an item to either chain's stores, no matter which one sold it. Items bought on basspro.ca or at a Cabela's Canada store go back to Cabela's Canada.

Items you cannot return

For safety reasons, Bass Pro does not take back firearms, ammunition, black powder items, primers, reloading components, treestands, blowguns or mouth calls. If one of these arrives damaged or defective, contact Customer Service.

Also not returnable:

  • Gas-powered items or drones that were used or had oil or fuel added
  • Altered products
  • Bargain Cave items bought in a store
  • Marine motor propellers that were installed
  • Reconditioned products such as bows and crossbows
  • Suppressors, which are nonrefundable under federal rules

Products custom ordered for a specific make or model go back to the manufacturer.

Returning without a receipt

Returns without a receipt are handled only in stores. The item is valued at its lowest sale price plus sales tax, and you can exchange it for the same product or take merchandise credit on a gift card. Staff may ask for a government photo ID, and Bass Pro says it may limit or refuse returns without valid proof of purchase.

After 60 days: warranties

Once the return window closes, warranties take over:

  • Electronics, and rods and reels from other brands, go to the manufacturer for repair or replacement under its warranty.
  • Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's rods carry a one-year warranty, and certain Johnny Morris rods carry ten years.
  • Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's boots, shoes and waders carry a one-year warranty against manufacturer defects, not normal wear.
  • Other Bass Pro and Cabela's brand goods carry a one-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
  • Repairs on boats, trailers and ATVs or UTVs are arranged within the manufacturer's warranty period.

How to return

Take the item and your receipt or order details to any Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's store, or follow the mail return steps linked from the help center page for US, Canadian and international orders.
