Best Buy Store Pickup and Curbside, Explained
Best Buy holds a pickup order for 5 days, asks for a photo ID and the order number, and offers curbside pickup at eligible stores.

How long Best Buy holds your order
Best Buy says it holds pickup items at the store for 5 days. If nobody collects them in that time, the order is canceled and the money goes back to the card or method you paid with. The help page says extended pickup options, when offered, show in your order details.
Wait for the separate "ready for pickup" message before you go. Best Buy says the order confirmation email is not the same thing.
What to bring
- A government-issued photo ID.
- Your order number.
Store pickup itself costs nothing. Best Buy notes that virtual and one-time-use credit cards cannot be used for a pickup order, and that the person named on a phone contract must come in person for a cell phone or a device with a plan.
Letting someone else pick up
You can name another person at checkout with their name, email and phone number. That person brings their own ID and the order number. To change the name later, open the order details and choose Make Changes.
Curbside pickup
Curbside works only at stores marked as eligible for it. The steps Best Buy lists:
- Wait for the "Your Order Is Ready for Pickup" notice. Best Buy aims for about one hour after you order, but does not guarantee a ready time.
- Park in a curbside spot and check in with the link in the email or text, or in the app.
- Stay in the car with a window down and the trunk open. Staff check who you are by sight or by voice and do not take your ID or phone.
- If nobody comes within 10 minutes, check in again or call the store.
Best Buy also asks you to add 3 to 6 inches to each side of a large box to check that it fits in your car, and says staff will not load items in a way they think is unsafe. Curbside orders follow the same 5-day hold.

If an item is out of stock at your store, Best Buy can ship many items sold by Best Buy to the store for free, usually in 3 to 7 business days. Marketplace products, music, movies, video games and some other items are left out.
Large items and other pickup places
Some TVs, refrigerators and major appliances can be picked up at a Best Buy warehouse instead of the store. Warehouse hours differ from store hours, so check the link in the pickup email, and bring tie-downs. Best Buy also lists other pickup points for items it sells, such as FedEx Office locations, Walgreens, Dollar General and Office Depot.
Returns from a curbside order go to the customer service desk inside the store, under the normal return policy.
