Dell Student Discount, Explained

Dell offers a student discount for buying on Dell.com, for example Dell laptops and Dell desktops. The rules below come from the Dell student page and its FAQ, read on October 26, 2026. Dell can change its terms, so check the official page before you buy.

Who qualifies

The FAQ lists three groups in the United States:

• High school students who are 16 or older.
• Full-time and part-time college and university students.
• Students in recognized post-secondary or trade school programs.

The page headline also mentions teachers, saying they get an extra 10 percent off everything. The FAQ text we read describes eligibility for students only, so a teacher should read the current terms on the page before relying on that offer.

How to get it

1. Sign in to your Dell account, or create one.
2. Register for Dell Rewards during account setup, or from your account.
3. Open the student discount program in the membership section.
4. Complete the SheerID verification form and submit any document SheerID asks for, such as a student ID, class schedule or tuition receipt.

You do not need an academic email address. Dell says verification is usually almost instant, and manual review can take about 20 minutes. Once your status is verified, the discount applies at checkout to eligible products in your cart.

If you already have a Dell account, you do not need a new one. Sign in and complete the student steps on the membership tab.

Limits

What is excluded

Dell's FAQ lists several exclusions. Certain PCs, electronics, accessories, warranties, gift cards, clearance items, limited-quantity deals and specific order codes do not get the student discount. Check the cart at checkout, because the offer details there show which promotions apply to each item.

When the discount does not show

Dell's help text gives three checks if you do not see the discount at checkout:

• Make sure you are signed in to the verified account.
• Confirm that SheerID shows your student status as verified.
• Check that the items in the cart are eligible products.

The discount is applied in the cart and may not appear on every product listing page, so a missing price on a product page does not mean the offer is gone.

If SheerID confirms your status but the discount still does not apply, contact Dell's sales team. Dell says SheerID is the best place for help with a pending or failed verification.

Summary

Verify once through your Dell account, add up to two eligible items to a cart, and check the exclusions before you pay. The discount does not stack with other Dell coupons, and it is capped at two orders a year.
