Discounts change. Home Depot's own website refused our requests, so we could not read its discount pages. The facts below are as reported by three consumer sites, The Senior List, FinanceBuzz and dealnews, read on October 26, 2026. Confirm with Home Depot or your local store before you count on any discount.

The short answer

No. The Senior List says that as of 2026, Home Depot does not offer a discount for seniors. FinanceBuzz agrees, saying the store has no standing senior discount program for shoppers 55 or older. Neither site points to an age-based deal of any kind, in stores or online.

So if you ask for a senior discount at the register, do not expect one. Staff cannot apply a program that the guides say does not exist.

The discount Home Depot does have

What the store does offer is a military discount, which all three sources describe:

What the sources reportDetails
Amount10% off eligible purchases
Yearly limitSavings capped at $400 a year (The Senior List and dealnews)
Who qualifiesActive duty members, veterans and their spouses
How you sign upStatus checked online through SheerID

The Senior List adds that the cap resets each calendar year, that some items are left out, and that in stores you show a virtual ID. This only helps an older shopper who also served or is married to someone who did. Age alone does not qualify.

Other ways to save at Home Depot

Without a senior deal, the savings open to every shopper matter more:

  • Pro Xtra: both The Senior List and FinanceBuzz describe Pro Xtra as a free loyalty program with personalized offers, paint rewards and purchase tracking. It is aimed at Pros, but nothing in either guide ties it to age. Our Pro Xtra article covers the program from Home Depot's own pages.
  • Price matching: FinanceBuzz says Home Depot will match a lower price on an identical item that another store has in stock, and The Senior List says to bring an ad, printout or photo of the item to the register.
  • Sales events: Home Depot runs seasonal sales through the year. See our Home Depot sales calendar for dates the store has announced.

Where older shoppers can save instead

Some other stores do run senior days or age-based deals. Our senior discounts guide lists the ones we could confirm on the stores' own pages.

How to check before you shop

  1. Ask the customer service desk at your store whether any local offer applies to you.
  2. Look at the discount and savings pages on homedepot.com, which are the ones that apply.
  3. If you served, verify your status once so the military discount works online and in store.
