Programs change. This is a summary in our own words of The Home Depot's corporate newsroom articles about Pro Xtra, read on October 26, 2026. The Pro Xtra page on homedepot.com and the program terms are the ones that apply; read them before you sign up.
What Pro Xtra is
Pro Xtra is the loyalty program Home Depot runs for professional customers such as contractors and builders. Home Depot launched it in 2012. Its newsroom says Pros can sign up for free, online or at a store, and the 2023 announcement points to the Pro Desk in local stores as another place to ask about it.
Home Depot has said Pros make up about 10 percent of its customers and roughly half of its sales, which explains why its rewards program is built around them.
Tiers
Since January 5, 2023, Pro Xtra has had three tiers:
| Tier | How you get there |
|---|---|
| Member | Join the program |
| Elite | Spend more over time |
| VIP | Spend more again |
Every dollar spent counts toward rewards and toward the next tier. Home Depot listed higher-tier extras such as an Elite Support Line with priority help, VIP experiences, account management with purchase support, and preferred pricing. It does not publish the spend levels in those newsroom articles; check the program page for the current thresholds.
What members get
- Perks. Members earn Perks by shopping and can unlock and redeem them in the Home Depot app, choosing options such as Tool Rental Perks or Pro Xtra Dollars. Surprise Bonus Perks can also show up just for being a member.
- Paint rewards, volume pricing and exclusive offers. Home Depot lists these among the long-standing benefits.
- Purchase tracking. Scan the Pro Xtra Virtual ID from the app at checkout, and purchases are tracked toward Perks. Members can also authorize purchases by text.
- Partner offers. In July 2026 Home Depot added partner offers in the Rewards Hub, open to every member regardless of spend or tier. The launch partners were 7-Eleven, Jimmy John's, Tecovas and Rosie's AI Answering Service; one example was 25 cents off per gallon of fuel at 7-Eleven, for up to five fills. Home Depot says the offers refresh every quarter.
Pro Xtra and Home Depot credit
Home Depot's Pro Xtra Credit Card, issued through Citi Retail Services, can be linked to Pro Xtra. Linked card purchases earn Perks four times faster, according to the 2022 announcement, and approved Pro Xtra members got an offer of up to $100 off a next qualifying purchase. The commercial cards also come with a return period of up to a full year and the option to issue employee cards.
Is it worth it if you are not a Pro?
The program is described as a Pro program. Its benefits, such as tool rental Perks, volume pricing and business tools, suit people who buy often for work. If you shop at Home Depot a few times a year for home projects, the store's sale events may matter more; see when Home Depot has sales.
