Foot Locker Return Policy, Explained

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of Foot Locker's Returns and Exchanges help pages, read on October 27, 2026. The official pages are the ones that apply; check them before you send anything back.

How long you have

Foot Locker gives you 45 days. Its return steps page counts from the date of purchase, while its policy page counts online orders from the original shipment date, so the safe plan is to count from the day you bought the item. Returns that reach Foot Locker after the window are refused and sent back to you.

What condition items must be in

Items must be unworn and in new condition, with the original tags and hang-tags attached, packed in the original boxes and bags. Foot Locker says it may reject items that do not meet the policy, and its return steps page notes that restock fees may apply.

Free returns and the $6.99 fee

In other cases the original shipping fee is not refunded. Free return shipping covers standard delivery within the contiguous United States.

How to return

1. In store: take the item to any Foot Locker store for a refund or exchange.
2. By mail: start the return in the ReadyReturns portal and send it to the distribution center. Foot Locker is not responsible for lost returns sent another way.

Items paid for in a store can go back by mail, but the receipt must be in the box. The online team cannot exchange those items, and their refunds come as a mailed check. Foot Locker no longer accepts returns from outside the US and US territories, and it does not take COD returns.

Without a receipt

With a receipt, unworn items bought in store get a full refund or exchange within 45 days. Without one, Foot Locker may offer an exchange at the lowest selling price of the past 60 days, after checking a phone number and a two-factor code.

Exchanges and fit

Foot Locker promises a free exchange if the item, such as a pair of sneakers, does not fit. Exchanges depend on stock; if your item is gone, you get a refund instead. Exchange orders ship by standard 5 to 7 business day delivery.

Defective items

Report a damaged or defective item to customer service and return it within 45 days of shipment. If a defect appears after use, the returns team inspects it. Items it does not judge defective are sent back to you.

How long refunds take

Mail returns usually take 5 to 6 business days to arrive and up to 2 weeks to process. After that, Foot Locker lists these times:
