Nike Exchange Policy, Explained

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of Nike's Help pages on returns and exchanges, read on October 26, 2026. The official pages are the ones that apply; check them before you send anything back.

The short version

The 60-day window

Nike gives you 60 days to return or exchange most purchases from Nike.com, the Nike App or a Nike store, counted from the store purchase or from delivery of an online order. Proof of purchase is required. Nike accepts your order number, the order barcode in your order history or the original store receipt.

Exchanging shoes for a different size

There are two ways to swap a pair for another size or another item.

1. In a Nike store. Bring the item and your proof of purchase to any Nike store except a Nike Clearance store. Staff inspect it and handle the exchange on the spot, which Nike says is faster than shipping it back.
2. Online, for Nike Members. Open the order in your order history, choose to start a return or exchange, and pick from the eligible replacement items Nike shows. Nike gives Members a UPS QR code for free shipping at The UPS Store, or a prepaid label you can print. Drop the box off within 21 days of starting the exchange. Nike ships the new item once it has received and inspected the old one.

If you checked out as a guest, the online tool handles returns only. For an exchange, Nike asks guests to contact it for help, or you can use a store.

Wrong or damaged items

If Nike sent the wrong item or it arrived damaged, you can return it and place a new order. Nike Members may also be offered an exchange for the item, if it is eligible. Nike refunds shipping fees only when you received an incorrect item.

What cannot be exchanged

• Anything bought at a Nike Clearance store, which also cannot take back items bought elsewhere
• Custom Jersey By You soccer jerseys
• Nike pre-orders and SNKRS Reserve orders
• Gift cards and items marked as nonreturnable
• Nike jewelry that is worn or missing its box, pouch, inserts or tags
• Nike x LEGO brick sets that have been opened

Apple Watch accessories have a shorter window: 14 days from delivery or store purchase.

Bought from another retailer?

Nike items bought at another store go back to that store under its own policy, not to Nike.

Past 60 days

If an item is more than 60 days old and you think it is defective, Nike points you to its warranty process instead of an exchange.

Identity checks

Nike says it may scan a government ID for any return or exchange, keeps a database of return activity to approve them, and may limit returns or exchanges with or without a receipt.
