Sam's Club Return Policy, Explained

Sam's Club takes most items back with no set deadline for current members, but electronics and major appliances get 90 days and cell phones 14 days.

Store policies change. Sam's Club's own return policy page could not be read on October 26, 2026: its help center refused automated and browser requests. What follows is as reported by SuperMoney (last updated October 2026) and dealnews (updated June 2025), and only where both agree. Confirm every detail with Sam's Club or at your club's service desk before you return anything.

The 100% Satisfaction Guarantee

dealnews says the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee lets current members return most items at any time. The Sam's Club membership page did not mention the guarantee when we read it again on October 29, 2026, and the full terms sit in the same blocked help center.

The word "current" matters. dealnews says you need an active membership, and a lapsed membership must be renewed before you return anything.

How long you have

Both sources describe the same windows:

ItemReturn window
Most itemsNo set deadline
Electronics, such as TVs90 days
Major appliances, such as refrigerators and washers90 days
Cell phones14 days

"No set deadline" is not a promise of forever. dealnews notes the terms speak of a reasonable time period, and store management has the final say. For a TV, laptop or fridge, mark the 90th day on your calendar; for a phone, the window is two weeks.

Electronics returns

Electronics are the main exception to the open-ended guarantee. The 90 days cover the big-ticket items people most often second-guess: televisions and similar devices. If you buy a TV for a holiday and it stays boxed for months, the clock still runs from the purchase.

Returns without a receipt

Both sources say a receipt is not strictly required, but neither treats it as a sure thing:

  • Sam's Club may look up the purchase through your membership history, but SuperMoney calls no-receipt returns a matter of the store's discretion.
  • You may be asked for a government-issued photo ID.
  • The refund may not go back to your card. SuperMoney says it may be based on the item's current selling price; dealnews says you may get store credit instead, depending on your history.

The safest move is to keep the receipt, the order confirmation, or at least the card you paid with.

What cannot be returned

Both sources list these as non-returnable:

  • Gift cards
  • Tickets
  • Custom-made items

For anything else you are unsure about, ask the club where you bought it before you make the trip.

Online orders

For an order from SamsClub.com, both sources describe a return started from your online account, with Sam's Club providing a shipping label for mail returns.

Before you go

Bring the item with its accessories, your membership card and, if you have it, the receipt or order number. Then check the details with the club, since the official terms are the ones that apply.
