Tractor Supply Return Policy, Explained
Reported by consumer guides, Tractor Supply takes most items back within 30 days with proof of purchase, and Neighbor's Club members get 90 days.

Store policies change. Tractor Supply's own return policy page could not be read when we checked on October 27, 2026 (the site did not load for us). The facts below are as reported by three consumer guides: SuperMoney (updated October 2026), Designbeep (June 2026) and Rather-Be-Shopping (updated January 2025). Only points at least two of them agree on are included. Confirm with your store or Tractor Supply's Customer Solutions Center before you count on a return.
How long you have
| Purchase | Return window, as reported |
|---|---|
| Most items, in store or online | 30 days from purchase, with proof of purchase |
| Neighbor's Club members | 90 days, and returns can be paperless |
| Equipment and seasonal items | Can be shorter; check when you buy |
| Live animals | Sources differ (see below) |
SuperMoney and Designbeep both report the longer 90-day window for members of Neighbor's Club, the store's free loyalty program. Rather-Be-Shopping adds that a cashier can look up a member's purchases by phone number, so a paper receipt is not needed.
Proof of purchase and no-receipt returns
A receipt, an order confirmation or a member account lookup counts as proof of purchase in these reports. Without one, the guides say Tractor Supply tries to verify the purchase and asks for a valid photo ID. If the return is approved, Designbeep and Rather-Be-Shopping report that you get store credit at the item's current selling price, not a cash refund, and SuperMoney says the credit comes as a gift card. Rather-Be-Shopping also notes that the store tracks returns, so frequent no-receipt returns can lead to refusals.
Items that cannot be returned
The guides agree on these exclusions:
- Ammunition, sold as final sale
- Prescription pet medications
- Gift cards
- Free promotional items
- Marketplace items, which follow the outside seller's own policy
Equipment and power tools
SuperMoney says tractors, mowers, generators and power tools must go back within 30 days, in new, unused condition with the original packaging and accessories. Rather-Be-Shopping reports that used equipment in sellable condition may be accepted within 30 days, at the manager's discretion. If you are unsure, call the store before you haul a large item back.
Live animals
This is where the reports split. SuperMoney says chicks and ducks must be returned within 7 days, and you should report problems right away. Rather-Be-Shopping says returns of baby chicks are up to the store manager, and suggests calling the store instead of bringing a sick bird in. Ask your store about its rule when you buy.
Online orders
Online orders can go back to a store or by mail, according to SuperMoney and Designbeep. For an in-store return, bring the order confirmation and an ID. Both say mailed returns are processed about 48 hours after the warehouse receives them, and SuperMoney and Rather-Be-Shopping say the original shipping charge is not refunded; SuperMoney makes an exception when the order was wrong or defective.
Before you return
- Bring proof of purchase, or the phone number on your Neighbor's Club account.
- Keep the packaging for equipment and tools.
- Ask first for animals, large equipment and seasonal goods.
- Confirm the rules with the store or Customer Solutions at (877) 718-6750, since this summary rests on third-party reports.
