Zappos Return Policy, Explained
Zappos takes back items in new condition within 60 days, with free UPS return shipping anywhere in the US and a choice of store credit or a refund.

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of the Zappos Shipping and Returns page, which Zappos marks as last updated on September 9, 2026, and which we read on October 27, 2026. The official page is the one that applies; check it before you send anything back.
How long you have
The policy text says merchandise must be returned within 60 days in new condition, and you start the return within 60 days of receiving the order. Some banners elsewhere on the Zappos site still mention a 365-day return policy; the dated policy section on the Shipping and Returns page says 60 days, so plan around that.
Zappos adds that returns for store credit may be accepted after 60 days in limited cases, and asks you to contact customer service for those. Orders placed as a guest can only be returned within 60 days.

Condition rules
The item must not be worn, used, altered or washed. It has to come back in its original packaging with every tag attached, including seals and security tags, complete and matching what you ordered. Shoes must go back in the original shoe box in its original condition, with no packing tape or postal labels stuck on the box itself. Put the shoe box inside a shipping box instead.
Zappos also says it cannot send an item back to you once it has been returned, so check the box before you seal it.
How to send a return
- Start the return online in Order History.
- Pick store credit or a refund to the original payment method.
- Pack the item in its original packaging, then in a shipping box.
- Choose a UPS return method, either a QR code or a printed label, and drop the box at a UPS location.
- Track the return in Order History.
Return shipping costs nothing anywhere in the United States, including US territories and military APO/FPO addresses.
When the money comes back
For eligible orders, Zappos says the refund is issued as soon as the carrier scans the dropped-off package, and store credit can take up to 24 hours. The bank side can be slower: Zappos says some financial institutions take up to 10 business days, Afterpay up to 20 business days and PayPal up to 30 business days, and some customers may wait up to 30 days. Afterpay refunds only go up to the amount paid at the time of the return.
If Zappos does not receive the returned item, it sends a warning email at 30 days, and after 45 days it may charge the original payment method.
Shipping on new orders
The same page lists free shipping anywhere in the US, standard shipping in 3 to 5 business days, and expedited shipping in 1 to 3 business days. Expedited shipping is not offered outside the continental US or to APO/FPO addresses. Zappos VIP members get free expedited shipping.
