Combining payments online

BestBuy.com limits how you can split an order:

  • Only one credit or debit card per order.
  • No mixing a credit or debit card with prepaid cards on the same order.
  • No combining PayPal with a credit or debit card.
  • No combining Apple Pay with a credit or debit card.

When your card is charged

When you place an order online, Best Buy puts an authorization hold on your credit or debit card. The account is billed only when the order ships or is ready for pickup. If the card cannot be authorized, Best Buy emails you; if the problem is not fixed within 24 hours, the order is canceled.

Buy now, pay later with Zip

Zip splits a purchase into 4 or 8 payments, due every 2 weeks, for eligible customers. Online, pick Zip under Other Payment Options at checkout. In a store, Zip is not on the store payment list, but Best Buy says you can open the Zip app, set up the plan, add a virtual card to Apple Wallet or Google Pay and tap to pay at the register.

Best Buy's page notes that Zip charges origination fees: $4 to $7.50 for pay in 4 and $8 to $60 for pay in 8, depending on the price. Zip loans need credit approval, late fees may apply, and Zip is not currently available in New Mexico or Vermont. A US debit or credit card is needed to use it.

Financing and lease to own

The My Best Buy Credit Card lets cardmembers choose rewards or financing on purchases, and Progressive Leasing offers lease to own on purchases of $225 and up, with no credit needed. Best Buy's disclosure says leasing costs more than the cash price and is not offered in Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Wisconsin, Wyoming or Puerto Rico. Our Best Buy financing guide covers these in detail.
