Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of Costco Technical and Warranty Services pages, the service many members call Costco Concierge, read on October 26, 2026. The official pages are the ones that apply; check them before you buy or file a claim.

Two ways Costco extends coverage

Costco describes two separate layers on top of the manufacturer's warranty:

  1. Costco's own 2-year extension, included with the purchase on certain product types, run by Costco Technical and Warranty Services.
  2. Allstate Protection Plans, extra coverage you buy for a range of products.

Costco says using both can add up to 5 years of coverage. Its own example: a TV with 2 years from Costco and 3 years from an Allstate plan, each under its own terms.

Which products get the Costco extension

Product typeCovered
TelevisionsYes
ProjectorsYes
ComputersYes, except touchscreen tablets
RefrigeratorsOver 10 cubic feet
Freezers, ranges, cooktopsYes
Over-the-range microwaves, dishwashersYes
Water heaters, washers and dryersYes

Coverage reaches up to 2 years beyond the manufacturer's warranty, counted from the warehouse purchase date, or from the delivery date for online orders. In the second year, Costco decides whether to repair the item, replace it, or refund up to the purchase price. The manufacturer's warranty still sets the specific coverage terms.

What the extension does not cover

  • Data backup and software replacement
  • Physical damage and liquid damage
  • Inadequate use, which includes a home unit used for business or a commercial unit used at home

The service is only for US Costco members, and calls are handled in the US.

What Costco Concierge helps with

Beyond warranty claims, the Technical and Warranty Services site offers support pages for PCs and laptops, TVs, major appliances, hearing aids and security systems, plus a repair status lookup. For TVs, the troubleshooting article covers sets bought in 2020 or later.

To call, the number on Costco's Call Us page is 1-866-861-0450, open Monday through Sunday, 5 am to 8 pm Pacific time. Costco asks you to have your membership number, the item number from the receipt, the model and serial numbers and the purchase date ready.

Allstate plans and electronics

Costco's Allstate FAQ lists plans for cameras and tablets, computers, televisions and appliances. Claims go through Allstate's own site for Costco plans, not through the warehouse. To check whether you bought one, open Orders and Purchases in your Costco.com account; warehouse purchases are under the In-Warehouse tab. The FAQ does not give plan prices or a deadline for adding a plan after purchase, so read the plan terms on the product page before you pay.

Before you buy

Keep the receipt or the order record, note the delivery date for online orders, and register the product with the maker. A tablet or phone is outside the free extension, so an Allstate plan is the only add-on coverage Costco lists for tablets.
