Home Depot's service pages on homedepot.com could not be read on October 26, 2026 (the site refused our requests), so this article lists no installation prices. What follows is a summary, in our own words, of how Home Depot describes its installation business in its annual report for fiscal 2025, filed with the SEC in March 2026. For a price, a booking or the exact terms in your area, use the store's service desk or the services section of homedepot.com.
What Home Depot installs
The annual report names these installation categories:
| Category | Examples from the report |
|---|---|
| Floors | Flooring |
| Kitchen and bath | Cabinets, cabinet makeovers, countertops, bath |
| Heating and cooling | Furnaces and central air systems |
| Water | Water heaters |
| Outside the house | Garage doors, sheds |
| Windows | Windows and window coverings |
The report calls the list a sample ("such as"), so other jobs may be offered. Appliances are not on the list; ask about appliance hookup when you buy, because the report does not describe it.
Who does the work
Home Depot acts as the general contractor. The actual work is done by professional third-party installers who are licensed and insured. As general contractor, Home Depot says it manages background checks, licensing, permits and environmental rules, and it oversees the quality of the installers' work. That matters if something goes wrong: the company that sold you the job is the one coordinating it.
How buying an installation works
Home Depot describes three ways to buy:
- In a store.
- Online.
- At home, through an in-home consultation.
In most programs you pick and pay for the materials, and Home Depot provides or arranges the installation. In some programs the installer supplies the materials as part of the job, and both the materials and the labor are billed together as one service.
Delivery before installation
For large items, delivery and installation are separate steps. Home Depot says next-day major appliance delivery reaches 60% of the U.S. population on key items such as refrigerators, washers and dryers. See Home Depot shipping and delivery for the other delivery options.
Tool rental, if you do it yourself
If you would rather do the job yourself, Home Depot rents tools and equipment at many of its stores, and the annual report says it keeps adding rental locations and tools.
Questions to ask before you book
- Is the installation price fixed, or will it change after the in-home visit?
- Are permits, haul-away of old materials and cleanup included?
- Who do you call if there is a problem after the job, the installer or Home Depot?
