Dick's Sporting Goods Price Match Policy, Explained

Dick's matches a lower price at another retailer on the same product; deal sites say the item must be identical and Amazon marketplace sellers do not count.

The price match page on the Dick's Sporting Goods website could not be read when we checked it on October 27, 2026: the site returned a block page instead of the policy. The basic promise below comes from a Dick's press release. The finer rules are as reported by third-party sites, not read on the Dick's site. Confirm the terms with Dick's (in a store, by chat or by phone) before you count on a match.

The short answer

Yes, Dick's matches prices. In its holiday press release of November 13, 2025, Dick's describes a Best Price Guarantee: if you show proof that the same product sells for less at another retailer, Dick's will match that price at the register.

What has to be true

Two personal finance sites, MoneyLion (May 2026) and Money Pantry (updated February 2025), agree on the core conditions:

ConditionAs reported
Same productIdentical item: same brand, same model number, same color
SellerA retailer, not a third-party reseller or marketplace seller
AmazonCounts, but only for items sold by Amazon itself, not marketplace sellers
ProofYou show the lower price (Dick's press release)

In practice that means a lower price from a marketplace seller on Amazon, eBay or similar sites will not be matched, even when the listing looks identical. Bring the competitor's ad or product page open on your phone so the associate can check brand, model and color against the item in your hand.

Details only one source reports

Money Pantry adds several rules that we could not confirm on the Dick's site or in a second current source, so treat them as likely but unverified:

  • Retailers: about two dozen named competitors, including Amazon, Walmart, Target, Nike and Nordstrom, plus local retailers.
  • After you buy: a price match within 14 days of purchase.
  • Sales: markdowns during special daily and hourly sales are not matched.
  • How to ask: in a store, show the competitor's ad; for online orders, contact Dick's.

Ask about each of these when you request a match, especially the 14-day window, since it decides whether you can get money back after a price drop.

Tips for a smoother match

  1. Check the exact model. Sporting goods often come in near-identical versions with different model numbers or colors. A different color can be enough for a refusal.
  2. Check the seller. On Amazon, look for "Ships from and sold by Amazon" before you ask.
  3. Ask before you pay. Matching at the register, as the press release describes, is simpler than asking for money back later.

How it compares

Academy Sports + Outdoors, a direct competitor, says it goes 5% below a competitor's price rather than matching it; see our Academy price match page. For other chains that match Amazon, see stores that price match Amazon.
