Dick's Sporting Goods Return Policy, Explained
Dick's takes most items back within 90 days with proof of purchase; without a receipt you get store credit at the lowest selling price and must show ID.

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of the Returns and Exchanges page on the Dick's Sporting Goods website, read on October 26, 2026. The official page is the one that applies; check it before you return anything.
How long you have
Dick's says most products can be returned within 90 days. For store purchases the clock starts on the purchase date; for online orders it starts on the original shipment date. The same 90 days covers Calia, VRST and Golf Galaxy. Dick's Sporting Goods Warehouse and Going, Going, Gone! locations allow 30 days on most products.
A short note higher on the same page still describes the 90 days as a COVID-19 extension of an earlier 60-day policy. The detailed policy text below it states 90 days as the rule.

Proof of purchase and refunds
Dick's accepts the order number, order confirmation email, original receipt, pack slip or return barcode as proof. With proof, most refunds go back to the original payment, including cash, cards and Dick's gift cards. Purchases paid with Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna, PayPal, non-Dick's gift cards or more than one payment type come back as a Dick's gift card, and some third-party marketplace orders, such as Instacart, come back as store credit. Gift receipt returns get a gift card or an even exchange. Original shipping charges are not refunded.
Dick's says an in-store refund to your card can take up to 14 business days, and a mailed return usually takes 2 to 3 weeks after it arrives.
Returning without a receipt
Without valid proof, you get store credit for the lowest selling price, usable in stores only, and you must show ID: a US or Canadian driver's license, US state ID, US military ID or US passport. Dick's records ID details in a return activity database. Before giving up on a receipt, call customer service at 1-877-846-9997 or use chat; Dick's may be able to send you a copy.
Items with limits
- Not returnable: final sale items, trading cards, custom or special order items, autographed collectibles, items that need fuel or gasoline, airbeds and gift cards.
- Only unopened: football helmets, air beds, electric scooters and bikes, face coverings, mouthguards, ice rinks, portable toilets and Whoop fitness trackers.
- Bats: unused only.
- Electronics: in the original packaging with every part and manual.
Items must be clean and resalable, and Dick's may limit returns even with proof of purchase.
How to return
- In store: bring the item, your proof of purchase and the card used to pay to any Dick's store. Online orders can go back to a store too.
- By mail: online orders only. In-store purchases cannot be mailed back.
- Curbside: call the store from the parking lot and an associate comes to your car.
Exchanges at a store keep the original price; online-only products cannot be exchanged.
