Store hours change. This is a summary in our own words, read on October 26, 2026. Some facts come from the stores' own pages; others come from news reports, because the stores' pages we could read did not list Easter hours. Easter Sunday fell on April 5 in 2026, so the list below is a record of that day, not a promise for the next one. Always confirm with your local store before you go.
What the stores themselves said
Three retailers published their own Easter plans for 2026:

Lowe's said 2026 was the seventh year in a row that all of its stores closed on Easter Sunday, and that stores reopened with regular hours the next morning. It ran a one-day online sale while the stores were shut. Hobby Lobby does not post a special Easter rule, but its own pages say every store is closed on Sundays, and Easter is always a Sunday.
What news reports listed
Costco, Target, Walmart and the grocery chains below did not publish 2026 Easter hours on any of their pages we could read. Two news lists published before Easter 2026, one from FOX local stations and one from The Mirror (republished on AOL), agreed on these stores. The facts here are as those reports gave them, not official policy:

Neither report gave opening and closing times for the open stores, so expect hours that can differ from a normal Sunday. One store, Macy's, appeared as partly open in one list and closed in the other, so we leave it out.
Is Walmart, Target or Costco open on Easter?
- Walmart: both reports listed it as open on Easter Sunday 2026. Check your store's hours in the Walmart app.
- Target: both reports said all Target stores were closed on Easter 2026.
- Costco: both reports listed every Costco warehouse as closed. Costco's warehouse pages list upcoming holiday closures, so check yours in the weeks before Easter.
How to check Easter hours next year
- Look for a holiday hours page or press release from the store itself in March. Home Depot and Lowe's both published theirs before the holiday in 2026.
- Open your local store page in the store's app or website a few days ahead; holiday changes show there first.
- If you need a pharmacy, check its hours separately, since it can keep a shorter day than the store.
- Treat any list from a news site, including the ones we cite, as a guide. A single store can differ.
