Lenovo Return Policy, Explained

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of the returns section of Lenovo's US Shopping FAQ, read on October 27, 2026. It covers orders, such as Lenovo laptops and Lenovo desktops, placed on Lenovo.com in the United States. The official page is the one that applies, so check it before you send anything back.

How long you have

Lenovo counts the window in calendar days from the date of the invoice, not the delivery date.

Within these windows, Lenovo says it takes returns with no shipping fee and no restocking fee.

The 2026 holiday window

Qualifying Lenovo.com orders placed from November 2 to December 13, 2026 can be returned through January 27, 2027, again with no shipping, handling or restocking fees. The extension does not cover Lenovo Outlet orders, server and storage products, Motorola phones, or orders for a quantity of more than five. Those orders keep their normal terms.

When a restocking fee applies

Unless Lenovo shipped the wrong product or made a mistake in the configuration you ordered, these returns carry a 15 percent restocking fee plus return shipping and handling charges:

• Server and storage products
• Orders of more than five units of personal computing products
• Any product sent back after its return window has ended

How to return an item

1. Start in Order Lookup. Request the return from the Order Lookup page on Lenovo.com.
2. Wait for the email. Lenovo says that within 48 hours you get an email with your Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number, a return shipping label and next steps.
3. Pack it. Put the item back in its original box with all accessories and packaging. Stick the label on the box without covering a battery warning sticker, if there is one.
4. Drop it at UPS. Take the package to a UPS location in the country the order was delivered to.

Lenovo asks shoppers not to refuse delivery as a way to return an order. It handles returns fastest when you accept the package and send it back with an RMA. It also asks you to inspect each package on arrival and report problems while your return window is still open.

How long the refund takes

Lenovo allows 5 to 10 business days to receive the package, inspect it and issue the refund to your original form of payment. Your bank or card issuer may then need another 2 to 10 business days to show the money.

Orders picked up at Best Buy

Some Lenovo.com orders can be picked up at a Best Buy store. Lenovo says these can only be returned to a Best Buy store, any Best Buy location will take them, and in-store exchanges are not offered. The refund goes back to the original payment method.

Canceling instead of returning

An order that has not shipped can sometimes be canceled through Order Lookup. Lenovo says orders that have shipped or started manufacturing cannot be canceled, software delivered electronically can never be canceled, and every request is reviewed before you get an email with the result.
