Macy's Coupon Policy, Explained
Macy's takes one promo code per order, and recent guides say Star Rewards savings can still be used with that code; each code sets its own exclusions.

Macy's own coupon and help pages could not be read when we checked on October 26, 2026: macys.com answered every request with an access denied page. What follows is as reported by recent deal and shopping sites, listed at the end. We kept only points that at least two of them agree on. Confirm with Macy's, and read the terms of the code itself, before you count on a discount.
The main rules, as reported
| Question | What the sources say |
|---|---|
| How many promo codes per order? | One |
| Can Star Rewards savings be used with a code? | Yes, alongside the one code |
| Does every code work on everything? | No, each code lists its own exclusions |
| Minimum purchase? | Some codes have one |
| Do codes expire? | Yes, check the end date on each code |
One code per order
Slickdeals (October 20, 2026) and Small Business Trends (March 24, 2026) both say Macy's accepts a single promo code on an order. If you hold two codes, there is no way to combine them on one order, so pick the one that takes more off your cart. Slickdeals suggests using whichever code saves more.
Star Rewards and codes
Both sources say rewards from Macy's Star Rewards program, such as Star Money, can be applied on the same order as your one promo code. That makes the rewards balance the usual way to add savings on top of a code.
Exclusions and fine print
Every code carries its own terms, and both sources tell readers to read them before checkout. Common limits named in those reports:
- Some brands or items are left out of a code
- Some codes apply only to one category
- Some codes need a minimum order subtotal
- Codes have an end date and can expire at midnight
Slickdeals adds that clearance and Last Act items are often excluded from sitewide codes. We found no second recent source for that point, so treat it as a common pattern, not a rule.
Sale prices
The sources do not agree here. Slickdeals says sitewide codes often work on top of sale prices, while DealDrop says codes usually do not combine with items already on sale. The code's own terms decide; the discount shown in your bag before you pay is the honest answer.
How to use a code online
- Add items to your shopping bag on macys.com.
- Find the promo code box in the bag and enter the code.
- Apply it and check that the discount appears in the order total.
- Add your Star Rewards savings, then check out.
If a code does not apply, the usual reasons are an excluded item, a subtotal under the minimum or an expired code.
