Micro Center Open Box and Refurbished Items

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of Micro Center's Clearance, Overstock and Refurb page and its Return Policy page, read on October 26, 2026. The official pages and the product listing are the ones that apply; read the listing before you buy.

Four kinds of discounted stock

Micro Center sells several kinds of marked-down products side by side. Its own definitions, in short:

Overstock, a fifth label on the same page, is surplus inventory.

What open box condition means

Micro Center says open box items may show minor cosmetic wear but work like new. It describes them as lightly handled, if at all, and checked to work, with any flaws being cosmetic only.

Accessories can differ from a new unit. Most open box and refurbished products include the essential accessories, but the original packaging and some extras may vary. Each listing states whether the item is open box, refurbished, closeout or a renewed phone, plus its condition, what is included and the warranty details. Read that part of the listing before you pay.

Micro Center open box warranty

The FAQ says that, unless the listing notes otherwise, every open box product comes with a warranty. The same goes for refurbished, closeout and renewed phone products. Coverage varies a little by product type, and the page gives no single length that fits every item. The listing shows the warranty for the item in front of you.

Returning an open box item

The Return Policy page answers this directly: open box products follow the same return rules as everything else. In practice that means:

• 15 days from purchase for desktops, laptops, tablets, processors, motherboards, drones, cameras, projectors, 3D printers and 3D scanners
• 30 days for all other products
• No restocking fee, since Micro Center says it does not charge one
• Bundles go back whole, unless one part is defective and a replacement is available

Before you buy

1. Check the condition line and the list of included items on the listing.
2. Look up the warranty details on the same listing.
3. Note the return period under Support Resources on the product page.
4. Test the item soon after purchase. On a 15-day product, the clock runs fast.
