Store programs change. This is a summary in our own words of PetSmart's Treats Rewards FAQs, read on October 27, 2026. The official FAQ and program terms are the ones that apply.

What the program is

Treats Rewards is PetSmart's free loyalty program. It is not a credit card. You can join in a store, on petsmart.com or in the PetSmart app with your name, phone number and email. Members must be 18 or older and live in the United States, Puerto Rico included, and each person can have only one account.

How you earn points

Every member earns 10 points for each $1 spent on products and on pet services: Grooming Salon, PetsHotel, Doggie Day Camp and Dog Training. Donations to PetSmart Charities at checkout earn 2X points. Points count to the penny, so a $35.55 purchase earns 355.5 points.

No points are earned on gift cards, shipping charges, bag fees, discounts, taxes, tips or veterinary services. Completing your profile for the first time adds a one-time 1,000-point bonus.

In stores, base points post when the purchase completes. Online, points post 24 to 72 hours after the order ships, and buy online pickup in store orders earn points at pickup. An account can earn at most 2.5 million points per calendar year.

What points are worth

PointsSavings
1,000$2
2,500$5
2.5 million (yearly limit)$5,000

Online, points are redeemed in steps of 1,000 and only up to the order total. In stores, tell the cashier and the largest possible discount is applied. Points cannot pay for donations, gift cards, veterinary services, taxes, tips, shipping or cash back, and cannot currently be used on Autoship orders or third-party delivery marketplace orders. Points cannot be transferred to another member.

When points expire

Unless an offer says otherwise, points expire one year after the date you earned them.

Bestie and VIPP tiers

Tiers are based on qualifying spending in a calendar year:

TierYearly spendingExtra points per $12X points purchases per year
All membersNo minimumNoneNone
Bestie$500 to $99921
VIPP$1,000 or more42

Status arrives within 24 hours of reaching the threshold and lasts for the rest of that year plus the next calendar year. Tier members also get appreciation events and early access to some sales, and VIPP members get a holiday gift. PetSmart says all in-store adopters can claim VIPP status. A tier bonus is figured on the purchase price, while multiplier offers apply only to the base rate of 10 points per $1.

Other perks

  • A gift for your pet's Birthday or Gotcha Day when the date is saved in your profile.
  • Free ship to home on select orders of $49 or more.
  • With an active Autoship subscription: 5% off every Autoship order, plus 2,500 points for every $100 of qualifying recurring Autoship spending, paid four times a year.

Returns

Returning an item removes the points it earned, and your balance can go negative until you earn more. Points you redeemed on a returned item are not given back. See PetSmart return policy.
