A sales tax holiday is a short period when a state drops its sales tax on certain items, usually clothing, school supplies and computers under a price limit. Each state's revenue department sets the rules. We did not read every state's own page, so the dates below are as reported by two tax references, the Sales Tax Institute (page dated August 17, 2026) and the Federation of Tax Administrators (research done in July 2026), and we list only facts where both agree. Check your state's revenue department before you shop.
