What Day Does Walmart Restock?
Walmart publishes no restock day; 2026 third-party reports describe overnight stocking and restocks spread across the whole week.

Store practices change. Walmart does not publish a restock schedule, so most of this page reports what third-party sources found in 2025 and 2026, summarized in our own words on October 26, 2026. They are not Walmart policy; ask your store for its own pattern.
What Walmart itself says
Walmart's only help page on the subject is short. It says an item that is not available shows as out of stock, that an item can sell out between the time you order and the time the order is processed, and that Walmart will email you if it cancels that item or the order. It adds that Walmart restocks items as quickly as it can. It names no day and no time.
Is there a Walmart restock day?
Not one that holds chain wide. Two 2026 sources agree on this:
- Priceva (September 2026) says Walmart publishes no universal restock day or hour, and treats claims such as "Tuesday to Thursday is better" as local observations, not Walmart rules.
- StoreLocators (September 2026) tracked when Walmart's website reported items back in stock at 4,596 stores from June 21 to September 18, 2026, and concluded that restocks happen throughout the week with no day standing out.
StoreLocators' share of restocks by day:
| Day | Share of restocks |
|---|---|
| Monday | 14.6% |
| Tuesday | 16.6% |
| Wednesday | 13.8% |
| Thursday | 17.3% |
| Friday | 14.5% |
| Saturday | 12% |
| Sunday | 11.2% |
An even spread would be about 14.3% a day, so Thursday runs a little high and the weekend a little low. The study counts the day an item showed as available for pickup online, not a shelf count, and it can lag the real restock by a few days.
What time does Walmart restock?
Two sources describe overnight stocking. Priceva says shelf-stable grocery is commonly restocked roughly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., while fresh departments are refilled through the day. SuperMoney (last updated October 2025) says most shelves are restocked overnight between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., with grocery and perishables refilled daily. Both call these typical patterns that vary by store.
How long until an item comes back?
StoreLocators also measured how long products stayed out of stock:
| Back in stock within | Share of products |
|---|---|
| 7 days | 42% |
| 14 days | 64% |
| 30 days | 76% |
About a quarter were still out after 30 days. It also found that when a store was out, another Walmart within 25 miles showed the item available 54% of the time.
How to time your trip
- Ask your store. Since no chain wide day exists, staff are the best guide to when trucks arrive at your Walmart.
- Shop early. Priceva and SuperMoney both point to early morning, after overnight stocking.
- Check online first. Pick your store in the Walmart app or on Walmart.com to see if an item shows in stock there, and look at nearby stores too.
- Order for pickup. If the item is in stock now, a pickup order saves the trip, though Walmart may still cancel an item that sells out before it is gathered.
