Walmart Order Pickup, Explained
Walmart holds a pickup order through the pickup day, lets late shoppers check in until 8 p.m. local time, and cancels unclaimed orders the next day.

How pickup works
You place an order online, choose a time slot, and an associate gathers and bags your items. Walmart sends a Ready for Pickup email when the order is done. Then:
- Open the Walmart app, the email or the text link and select that you are on your way.
- At the store, park in a Curbside Pickup spot and tell the app you have parked, with the spot number and your car's color.
- An associate brings the order out to you.
If the app check in does not work, call the number on the parking sign or in your confirmation email, and an associate will come out.
How long does Walmart hold a pickup order?
Not long. Walmart's help page ties the hold to your pickup date:

While the order waits, Walmart says frozen and perishable items such as produce are kept at the right temperature.
What happens if you don't pick up your Walmart order?
The store cancels it the day after your pickup date. Walmart says canceling releases the authorization hold on your payment method, and refunds to a credit or debit card can take up to 7 business days. On canceled orders in general, Walmart says it does not charge you, but the pending hold is your bank's and leaves on the bank's schedule, so questions about it go to your bank.

Walmart pickup hours
Walmart's help pages do not publish one set of pickup hours for every store. What they state is the 8 p.m. local time limit for late check in on your pickup date. You pick a time slot when you order, so the app shows the slots open at your store before you check out.
Changing a pickup order
- Before the cutoff time shown in your purchase history, you can add or remove items, change quantities, allow or block substitutions, and reschedule the slot once.
- Store or address: up to three hours before the window, once per order (express orders excluded). The total may change because of taxes and fees.
- Pickup to delivery: not possible after checkout; cancel and place a new order. The one exception is a text about a delayed delivery that offers the switch.
- Someone else picking up: add an alternate pickup person with a name and email, at checkout or later from Purchase History.
If your order is late
Walmart asks you to wait for the Ready for Pickup notice and to check in before you leave and when you arrive. If you did both and still wait, call the store; the number is in the app or at the pickup spot.
