Aldi Twice as Nice Guarantee and Returns
Under the Twice as Nice Guarantee, Aldi refunds a qualifying Aldi-brand food item and also replaces it; here is what recent reports say about the rules.
On this page

Aldi's own Refunds and Returns help page could not be read when we checked it on October 27, 2026: help.aldi.us loaded only its headings, not the policy text. The rules below are as reported by two recent articles that agree with each other, from Tasting Table (December 2025) and Chowhound (February 2026). They are not read on Aldi's site. Confirm the details with your Aldi store manager or Aldi customer service before you count on them.
The short answer
The Twice as Nice Guarantee is Aldi's promise on its own food brands. If a qualifying Aldi-brand food item disappoints you, both sources say Aldi gives you a refund and a replacement product, not one or the other. That double remedy is where the name comes from.
| Item | What both reports say |
|---|---|
| Aldi-brand food covered by Twice as Nice | Refund plus a replacement |
| Non-food items, often from Aldi Finds | Outside Twice as Nice, but usually returnable for a refund |
| Non-Aldi brands | Not part of Twice as Nice; ask the store |
What to bring
Both articles say a Twice as Nice return needs:
- Your receipt.
- The item in its original packaging.
They differ on one detail. Tasting Table says to bring the packaging along with any product you did not eat. Chowhound quotes the policy as asking for items returned unused. If you have already opened the item, ask the store manager how they handle it.
Aldi Finds and other non-food items
Aldi Finds is the part of the store where Aldi sells non-food items, often from brands other than Aldi's own. Both sources say these items are not covered by the Twice as Nice Guarantee, so you do not get the extra replacement. Both also say you can usually still return them for a refund. Bring the receipt and the original packaging here too.
What happens to returned food
Tasting Table says Aldi cannot resell returned food, sealed products included, for safety reasons. Chowhound reports that store employees describe returned food being thrown away rather than restocked or donated, while noting that Aldi has made no public statement about it and that practice may vary by store. Tasting Table adds a warning against overusing the program for that reason.
Tips before you return
- Keep grocery receipts until you have finished the product.
- Keep the packaging too, since both reports say it should come back with the item.
- Go to the store so you can talk to a manager: several details, such as which non-Aldi brands a store takes back, are left to the store.
- If your concern is not about quality, ask before you buy whether the item can come back.
- Chowhound says some smaller caveats apply, so ask about them when you return something.
How to confirm
Aldi's help center at help.aldi.us has a Refunds and Returns article. If it loads for you, it is the version that applies. You can also ask at the register or contact Aldi customer service through its help center.
