B&H Photo Return Policy, Explained
B&H takes most items back within 30 days of delivery in new condition and original packaging; shipping is not refunded and a 15% restocking fee can apply.

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of B&H Photo's Returns and Exchanges page, read on October 27, 2026. The official page is the one that applies; check it before you send anything back.
How long you have
B&H gives you 30 days from the delivery date to return an item if you are not happy with it, for any reason, as long as the item meets the conditions below. You can start a return or an exchange online, by phone or through Live Chat.

Free items and bundles
If your order came with free items, send them all back for a full refund. If you keep a free item, B&H deducts its retail value from your refund. B&H refunds only the original purchase price.
Items you cannot return
Some products cannot go back once the seal or box is opened:
- TVs and monitors 37 inches and larger
- Computer software
- Consumables such as film, tapes, paper, bulbs, discs and ink cartridges
- Educational tapes and books
Other items are not returnable at all: computers built or modified by B&H to your specifications, underwater gear that has been submerged, select special orders and anything the website marks as nonreturnable, and electronic software downloads.
Defective or damaged items
B&H may repair, exchange or refund a defective item, at its discretion, with the same model or the maker's equivalent. Report missing items or damage from shipping within two business days of receiving the order. B&H reimburses return shipping for verified defective or damaged items.
How to return
- Sign in to My Account, open My Orders, filter by orders eligible for return and choose Start a Return. Guest, phone, chat and in-store orders can be found with the order lookup.
- Fill in the online Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) request.
- Pack the item and the invoice in the original packaging. Use the prepaid label B&H provides, in which case the label cost comes out of your refund, or buy your own label from any carrier. B&H suggests insured ground service with tracking, since it is not responsible for packages lost on the way.
You can also drop a return at the Returns Department of the New York SuperStore, on 34th Street, around the corner from the main entrance.
Your refund
After B&H receives and inspects the item, it credits your account, usually by the payment method you used. If you paid by check, the refund check goes out no sooner than 10 business days after the purchase date.
Before you ship a phone, tablet or other device with a user profile, factory reset it or remove the password. B&H says it is not responsible for personal data or items left inside returned goods.
