Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of IKEA's US shipping and delivery service page and its Shipping and Delivery Terms and Conditions (effective August 31, 2026), read on October 26, 2026. The official pages are the ones that apply; check them before you order.

The $35 minimum

Every IKEA shipping and delivery option needs a merchandise subtotal of at least $35, counted after discounts, coupons, credits and promotions. Taxes, gift card purchases, delivery fees and assembly or other service fees do not count toward it. Shipping and delivery prices do not include tax.

What delivery costs

IKEA lists starting prices only; the final cost depends on your ZIP code, how far you are from a store or distribution center, and the weight and size of the order. Your cart shows the exact price and which options reach you.

Small order shippingBy parcel carrier, up to 50 lbs$5 off orders over $35Price in cart

Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island and New York pay a higher tier for large item delivery, and so do the San Francisco, District of Columbia, Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland areas. Log in to your free IKEA Family account at checkout to get the member price.

How long delivery takes

IKEA gives no standard number of days. The earliest estimated date for your ZIP code shows at checkout, and IKEA says it is not a guaranteed date.

  • Standard Delivery arrives within a date range you choose; the delivery company tells you the actual day later. It is for orders under 300 lbs, and its date cannot be changed.
  • Scheduled Doorstep and Scheduled In-Home let you pick the day, which can be as early as the next day. The night before, you get a 4-hour window.
  • Express In-Home can arrive as early as the next day where it is offered.

Orders over 500 lbs can only go by an In-Home option. Items set for delivery more than 14 days after purchase may carry a storage fee of up to $10 per day.

Being home for the truck

Someone 18 or older must be present for large item delivery, even a doorstep one, unless your ZIP code offers an opt-in to skip it. A missed delivery may bring a re-delivery fee. You cannot change the address after ordering; the order has to be canceled and placed again.

Report damaged, missing or wrong pieces to IKEA at 1-888-888-4532 within 48 hours.

Where IKEA does not deliver

IKEA delivers within the continental United States. It does not deliver to Alaska, PO boxes or APO addresses, and large item delivery does not reach Hawaii; small orders can ship to select Hawaii ZIP codes from $80. Crews do not haul away old furniture. Mattress removal is a $30 add-on when you buy a mattress or box spring with delivery in a store, not online. California, Connecticut, Oregon and Rhode Island get removal at no extra charge under state law.
