Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of Lowe's Pickup Options help page, read on October 26, 2026. The official page is the one that applies; check it before you order.
How long Lowe's holds an online order
| Step | What Lowe's says |
|---|---|
| Ready time | Qualifying orders are usually ready within three hours |
| Late orders | Orders placed in the last four hours before closing are usually ready the next day |
| Hold period | Seven days from the day the order is ready |
| Extension | Three more days (five for Pro customers), requested before the first window ends |
| Not picked up | The order is canceled and the payment refunded |
To extend, open the order details, choose Manage Order and then Extend Pickup Window. Lowe's says it will try to reach you before it cancels an order.
Curbside, in-store and locker pickup
Pickup is free. At checkout, choose your store and pick In-Store Pickup or Curbside Pickup. Lowe's asks you to wait for the email, text or app notice that the order is ready, even though checkout shows an estimated date.
When it is ready, check in from the notice:
- Select Check In, confirm your pickup method and say you are on the way.
- Go to the store. For in-store pickup, follow the signs to the pickup area; for curbside, park in an open curbside spot.
- Select I'm Here so an associate brings out your order.
If you did not choose curbside, a smaller order may be placed in a locker. You get the locker location and a barcode to scan at the locker.
What to bring
Bring a photo ID (state driver's license, military ID or state ID) and the order number or confirmation email. Orders can be picked up during normal store hours.
What cannot be picked up this way
Lowe's excludes bulk orders, big and bulky items, items that need assembly, items sold with installation, and delivery services. Its examples are major appliances, lumber and other building materials, flooring, countertops and cabinets.
Other pickup options
- Ship to store: If an item is out of stock at your store but available online, Lowe's ships it to your store for free.
- More than one store: One order can be split for pickup at several stores; you get a separate ready notice for each.
- Someone else picks up: Add one alternate person per order with their full name and email, at checkout or later from your order history. They bring their own photo ID and the order number or email.
- Change the store: You can change the pickup store from the order details page, though Lowe's notes exclusions apply and timing may change.
Price drops and returns
If the price drops between ordering and pickup, Lowe's points to its Lowest Price Guarantee page rather than promising an automatic change. Pickup orders can be returned to any Lowe's store in the US; most new, unused items can be returned with proof of purchase within 90 days. You can start the return online, but the item has to go back to a store.
