What shipping costs at Target

Target offers three ways to get free shipping on Target.com:

Way to qualifyWhere it applies
Spend $35 or more, any payment methodThe 48 contiguous states and APO/FPO addresses
Pay with a Target Circle Card (credit, debit or Mastercard)All 50 states and APO/FPO addresses
Join Target Circle 360, the paid membershipAll 50 states and APO/FPO addresses

The $35 is counted after promotions and discounts and before tax. Orders under $35 without the card or a membership pay a flat $5.99 per order. Orders to Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. protectorates can carry a surcharge, which the Target Circle Card or a 360 membership avoids.

Some low-priced items are marked as shipping only with $35 orders. For those, the merchandise subtotal must reach $35 before discounts, tax and shipping; otherwise save them for later or choose Order Pickup.

How long Target shipping takes

On most items you cannot pick a speed; Target sends the fastest option available.

  • 2-day shipping: on select items to select ZIP codes. The cutoff is usually 12 p.m. local time at the delivery address. An order placed before the cutoff on Monday should arrive Wednesday; after the cutoff, Thursday.
  • Standard shipping: expected within 3 to 5 business days after the items ship.
  • Next-day shipping: for eligible items in select markets, with cutoffs that vary.
  • Processing: most items ship within 24 hours, and extra vendor time is built into the date shown at checkout.

One order can arrive in several packages. Some carts get a no-rush option that groups packages and takes $1 off the merchandise subtotal.

Same Day Delivery

Same Day Delivery brings items from your local Target store, shopped and dropped off by Shipt shoppers in a delivery window you choose. Target says it covers all major metro areas and most of the U.S.

OptionCost per order
Target Circle 360 memberFree on orders of $35 or more
No membership$9.99 delivery fee
Paying with EBT$7 fee paid with another method, no $35 minimum

Target Circle 360 costs $99 a year or $10.99 a month, or $49 a year for Target Circle Card holders. California orders carry a Shipt shopper benefit fee. Items excluded from Same Day Delivery include some clothing, shoes and electronics, Starbucks and other services, and items over 40 lbs. Prices match your local store.

Pickup instead

If you can collect the order yourself, Target suggests Order Pickup as the way around the $35 minimum on items that only ship with $35 orders. Target holds most Drive Up and Order Pickup orders for three days.

Large items

Furniture and other large items go with a delivery carrier, who contacts you after you order to set up delivery. The delivery level (to the door, inside the door, or room of choice) is chosen at checkout and cannot be changed later, and none of the levels includes assembly or packaging removal.
