IKEA Price Protection After a Price Drop
IKEA refunds the difference if an eligible product drops in price within 90 days, but only for IKEA Family members whose card was scanned or who signed in.
On this page

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of the IKEA Family page, the IKEA Family FAQ and the IKEA US return policy, read on October 27, 2026. The official pages are the ones that apply; check them before you ask for a refund.
The short version
IKEA US calls its price drop refund 90-Day Price Protection, and it is an IKEA Family benefit. If the price of an eligible product falls within 90 days of your purchase, IKEA refunds the difference. An older IKEA price guarantee address returned a "page not found" error when we tried it, and the pages we could read describe price protection only as a member benefit. If you are not a member, ask a store before assuming you are covered.

In store purchases
Bring your original receipt to an IKEA store. The receipt has to show that your IKEA Family card was scanned at checkout. That is why the FAQ tells members to scan the card on every purchase, not only when buying items on sale: a purchase made without the card does not show the membership.
Online purchases
Online orders qualify too, but only if you were signed in to your IKEA Family account when you placed the order. If an eligible product drops in price within 90 days, call IKEA US Customer Support at 1-888-888-4532 to ask for the difference.
What does not qualify
- Services: delivery, assembly and other services are excluded; the benefit covers product purchases only.
- Purchases without the membership: an in-store receipt without a scanned card, or an online order placed while signed out, does not show the benefit.
If the 90 days have passed
Price protection ends at 90 days, but IKEA's return policy runs longer. New, unopened products can go back within 365 days and opened products within 180 days, with proof of purchase, for a full refund in the original form of payment. IKEA asks for your receipt and a valid government-issued photo ID, and refunds only the net price on the receipt. Plants, cut fabric, custom countertops and as-is products cannot be returned. Buying the item again at the lower price and returning the first one is a possible route, but it means another trip and the return rules apply in full. See IKEA Return Policy.
How to get the most from it
- Join IKEA Family before you buy; it is free for anyone over 18 with an email address.
- Scan your card in store or sign in online every time.
- Keep the receipt or order confirmation for at least 90 days.
- Check the prices of large purchases during those 90 days, especially around sale campaigns.
