Kohl's Price Adjustment Policy, Explained
Deal sites report Kohl's refunds the difference if an item drops in price within 14 days of purchase, with the original receipt; clearance is excluded.
On this page

Kohl's own help pages could not be read when we wrote this: kohls.com returned an access-denied page to every request we made on October 27, 2026. The rules below are as reported by two deal sites with current Kohl's pages, Coupons.com and DealNews. They are not Kohl's official wording, so confirm the details with Kohl's customer service or a store before you count on a refund.
The short version
Both sources describe the same core rule: if something you bought at Kohl's goes down in price within 14 days of your purchase, you can ask for the difference back. You need the original receipt.
| Point | What the sources report |
|---|---|
| Time limit | 14 days from the purchase date |
| Proof | The original, dated receipt |
| Where to ask | A Kohl's store (DealNews names the customer service desk) |
| What you get | A refund of the price difference |
| Excluded | Clearance items, per both sources |
What is excluded
The two sources agree that clearance items do not qualify. Each adds an exclusion the other does not mention:
- Coupons.com also lists Kohl's Cares merchandise and buy one, get one (BOGO) offers as excluded.
- DealNews says deals from the week of Black Friday are excluded.
Because each exclusion comes from only one source, treat them as likely rather than certain, and ask at the counter if your item falls into one of these groups.
How to ask for a price adjustment
- Keep the receipt. Both sources say the request needs the original, dated receipt, so do not throw it away while the 14 days run.
- Watch the price. Check the item on kohls.com or in the weekly ad during the two weeks after you buy.
- Go to a store. Bring the receipt to the customer service desk and ask for the price difference.
Coupons.com points out that this is most useful when you paid full price and the item goes on sale soon after. A small drop may not be worth a trip to the store.
Price adjustment or a return?
If the 14 days have passed, a price adjustment is no longer an option under the rule the sources describe. For most items, Kohl's return window runs much longer than 14 days; the windows by product and payment type are in our Kohl's return policy guide. Returning an item and buying it again at the lower price is a different transaction from a price adjustment, and any coupons or Kohl's Cash tied to the first purchase may be affected, so check before you do it.
Our Kohl's coupon policy guide covers how coupons work at Kohl's, including the coupon terms that list price adjustments among the things a coupon cannot be used on.
What we could not confirm
We could not confirm from Kohl's own pages whether online orders qualify the same way as store purchases, whether a competitor's lower price counts, or whether the adjustment is paid to your original card or as store credit. Neither source states these points, so ask Kohl's directly.
