Reports from 2026 say Nordstrom adjusts a price that drops within 14 days and matches some competitors; sale events and Nordstrom Rack are excluded.

Store policies change. Nordstrom's own price adjustment page could not be read on October 27, 2026: nordstrom.com answered our requests with a block page instead of the policy. The facts below are as reported by consumer and shopping sites (ShopSavvy, researched May 9, 2026; QuerySprout, which describes the 2026 policy), summed up in our own words. They are not Nordstrom's official wording. Confirm the rules with Nordstrom before you count on a refund.

Two kinds of adjustment

Nordstrom handles two cases, as both sources describe them:

  • Its own price drops. You bought an item and Nordstrom later lowers the price.
  • Competitor prices. A listed competitor sells the same item for less.

QuerySprout and GoBankingRates both say the difference goes back to the payment method you used.

How long you have

CaseWindow, as reported
Nordstrom lowers its own price14 days from purchase
Competitor has a lower price14 days from purchase
Nordstrom Rack and nordstromrack.comNo price adjustments or price matching (QuerySprout)

One caution: an older GoBankingRates article, dated December 4, 2023, gave 10 days from the purchase or shipment date for Nordstrom's own price drops. The two newer sources say 14 days. If your purchase is between 10 and 14 days old, ask Nordstrom which window applies to you.

What does not qualify

The sources list these exclusions, in our own words:

  • Purchases made before or during Nordstrom's own sale events: the Anniversary Sale, Limited-Time Sale, Extra Savings, Daily Deals and Beauty Daily Deals (QuerySprout).
  • Competitor order-level discounts, gift card promotions and shipping offers.
  • Outlet, flash sale, auction and club prices.
  • Regional and non-US retailers, and third-party marketplace sellers.
  • Designer items that were bought at a sale price (QuerySprout).

QuerySprout also reports one adjustment per item, and that requests made by automated price-tracking services are not processed.

Matching a competitor

Both sources say the item must be identical, in the same size and color, and in stock at both Nordstrom and the competitor. QuerySprout says you need a current ad or a working link to the competitor's listing. ShopSavvy lists competitors it reports Nordstrom matches, among them Amazon, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, Ulta Beauty and Zappos. Nordstrom keeps its own list, so check that the store you found is on it.

How to ask

  1. In a store. Bring your receipt to a Nordstrom store (QuerySprout).
  2. Online. Use Nordstrom's price adjustment request with your order number and ZIP code (QuerySprout), or contact customer service (ShopSavvy).

QuerySprout says an associate checks the request before any credit is issued, and that Nordstrom can decline it.
