Store programs change. This is a summary in our own words of Walgreens' myWalgreens page, read on October 27, 2026. The official page and its terms are the ones that apply.
What myWalgreens is
myWalgreens is Walgreens' free loyalty program. Walgreens says membership is open to US residents aged 16 and older, with parental permission needed for members aged 16 to 18 (16 to 21 in Puerto Rico). Rewards come as Walgreens Cash, which works like a discount on a later purchase, not as money you can withdraw.
How you earn Walgreens Cash
| Purchase | Walgreens Cash |
|---|---|
| Most items storewide | 1% |
| Walgreens brand products | 5% |
| Prescriptions picked up in store | 1% of what you pay out of pocket |
To earn, give your account phone number at checkout in store, or be signed in when you buy online. A prescription with a $0 copay earns nothing, and mail-order prescriptions do not earn.
Walgreens lists purchases that do not earn: pharmacy purchases in Arkansas, New Jersey and New York, alcohol, dairy, tobacco, gift cards, sales tax, shipping and items from third-party partners. Photo orders earn only when picked up in store.
How you spend it
- Give your phone number at checkout; Walgreens also asks that an email or home address is on your profile.
- Walgreens Cash comes off the total only in these amounts: $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10, $20 or $50.
- The limits are $50 per transaction and $100 per day.
- It cannot be used on prescriptions or other pharmacy items and services.
- It can be combined with other discounts unless an offer says otherwise.
If you return something, Walgreens Cash you already redeemed is not credited back.
When it expires
Walgreens Cash expires 12 months after you earn it. A membership becomes inactive after six calendar months in a row with no transactions, and the rewards built up on it are forfeited then.
The myWalgreens credit cards
The myWalgreens credit cards are issued by Synchrony Bank and need credit approval. At Walgreens, Duane Reade and Walgreens.com, Walgreens says cardholders earn:
| Card purchase | Rewards |
|---|---|
| Walgreens brand items | 10% |
| Other brands and pharmacy purchases | 5% |
| Mastercard only: grocery and health and wellness outside Walgreens | 3% |
| Mastercard only: everywhere else Mastercard is accepted | 1% |
Walgreens lists no annual fee for the cards. Card rewards earned on or after January 31, 2026 expire on a rolling 24-month basis; those earned earlier follow a rolling 12-month basis. Check the rates and fees linked from the Walgreens page before you apply.
Tips to get the most out of it
- Buy the Walgreens brand version when it suits you: it earns five times the base rate.
- Sign in before you buy online, and give your phone number at every store visit, or the purchase does not earn.
- Make a small purchase at least every six months so your balance is not forfeited.
- Use the balance on store items, since it cannot pay for prescriptions.
