Store programs change. This is a summary in our own words of Office Depot's Rewards page, read on October 27, 2026. The official page and the program terms are the ones that apply.

What the program is

Office Depot OfficeMax Rewards is a free program that works in Office Depot and OfficeMax stores and on officedepot.com. You join by creating an online account and choosing to enroll. Office Depot allows one account per household or business.

How you earn

Members earn 2% back in rewards on almost everything, including technology, furniture, office supplies and services. The 2% is figured on what you actually paid before tax, after discounts, free gifts and any certificates you used.

You earn nothing on Office Depot Marketplace items, delivery fees, postage stamps, gift or prepaid cards, lottery, Secure Shredding and Storage, tech, furniture, marketing or administrative services, or third-party services.

On top of the base rate, Office Depot lists these extras:

ExtraWhat you get
Ink and toner recycling$2 back per cartridge ($3 for Select members), up to 10 a month, with a $10 qualifying purchase in the same month
Product reviews$2 back per approved review, up to 3 a month, posted within 5 days
Bonus Rewards offersExtra percent back on featured items; the page says the list is updated every Monday

Recycling rewards post the day after the $10 purchase is met, and damaged cartridges are not accepted. Most Bonus Rewards appear the next day. Each weekly offer has its own dates and limits, so read the details before you buy.

VIP and Select members

You become a VIP member by spending $500 or more within 365 days. VIP status starts 30 days after that spending posts and lasts 12 months. Returns, free gifts and purchases paid with certificates or gift cards do not count toward the $500. Select members get VIP benefits without the spending requirement; the Rewards page links to Select details but does not list its cost.

VIP and Select members get:

  • 5% back on ink and toner, case, ream and photo paper, and copy and print center orders, with some exclusions such as thermal and register paper rolls.
  • Free 2-business-day delivery with no minimum on qualifying orders in local delivery areas of the contiguous 48 states. Members in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands keep the standard minimum. Most furniture, oversized items, bulk beverages, special orders and Marketplace items do not qualify.

How you get paid and when rewards expire

Base rewards are paid monthly, online only, as a rewards certificate once you have earned at least $3. If you earn less than $3, those rewards expire at the end of the calendar quarter. Bonus Rewards are paid separately and do not count toward the $3.

Office Depot says you get at least 60 days to use each certificate. The expiration date shows in your online account and in the monthly statement email, which goes out on the second Monday of each month. Certificates work in stores, on officedepot.com and by phone at 800-GO-DEPOT.

Returns and rewards

If you pay with a rewards certificate and return the item, the Return Policy says the refund comes as a check within 3 to 4 weeks. See Office Depot return policy.
