Store hours change. Publix does not publish one company-wide schedule: its customer service page points shoppers to the store locator for each store's hours. Publix pages we could read on October 26, 2026 do not list general or holiday hours, so the typical hours and closures below are as reported by USA TODAY Network newspapers in Florida in 2025 and 2026. Confirm with your own store before you go.
How to check Publix hours today
The official way is the Publix store locator at publix.com/locations. Search for your area, open your store, and its page shows the hours, phone number and services. The locator can also filter stores that are open now, and stores with a pharmacy or a Publix Liquors.
If you cannot find what you need online, Publix Customer Care is at 1-800-242-1227. Before holidays, the news reports say stores post their special hours on signs inside the store.
What time does Publix open and close?
According to the USA TODAY Network reports, these are the usual hours. Your store may differ.
| Department | Typical hours |
|---|---|
| Store | 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, some stores open an hour later |
| Pharmacy | 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., some locations vary |
| Publix Liquors | 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily |
So for most stores, Publix opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m., every day of the week. The reports note that some locations open at 8 a.m. instead, which is why the locator is worth a quick look.
Days Publix is closed
The reports agree that Publix stores close on only three days a year:
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- Easter Sunday
Pharmacies and liquor stores close on those days too. One report says Publix has closed on these holidays since it was founded, and another says the closings give employees time with family and friends.
Early closings and other holidays
Stores close early on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, with the exact times posted in stores ahead of time. For example, one report said Florida stores were open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve 2025 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year's Day 2026. Times for the 2026 holidays had not been reported when we checked, so look for the signs at your store or check the locator in December.
On federal holidays such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, July Fourth and Labor Day, the reports say Publix stays open, though some locations may close early.
Customer service hours
The reports list Customer Care phone hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. They also say Publix answers direct messages on social media from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern every day, holidays included.
