Staples Teacher and First Responder Discounts
Staples runs a one-time 20% in-store teacher coupon each back-to-school season, not all year; it publishes no first responder discount.

Store programs change. On October 26, 2026, Staples' own website showed no standing teacher or first responder discount: its Easy Rewards page and its Teacher and Classroom Supplies page did not mention one. What Staples has announced is a seasonal teacher coupon, in its back-to-school press releases. Business Wire, where Staples issues them, would not load for us, so the facts below are from copies of those releases republished by other sites. Confirm current offers in the Staples app or with your store.
Does Staples have a teacher discount?
Only for part of the year, going by Staples' own announcements. Its July 6, 2026 back-to-school release offered teachers a one-time 20% off coupon on eligible purchases in store, valid from June 14 through September 12, 2026. That window has closed.

The release named classroom supplies, bulk supply packs, custom print, classroom decor, storage, sensory items and cleaning supplies as the kind of purchases it was aimed at.
It comes back each summer
The 2026 offer was not the first. Staples' June 26, 2025 release described the same kind of deal: a one-time 20% off for verified teachers, with the app coupon and a valid teacher ID shown at checkout, in US stores, through September 13, 2025. That release said it could not be combined with other coupons or promotions and that online use was coming. Staples has not announced a 2027 offer, so watch for its summer release or the app.
First responder and military discounts
We found none. Neither Staples' website pages we read nor its 2025 and 2026 back-to-school releases mention a discount for first responders, nurses or the military. If you are in one of those groups, ask your local store, but do not count on one.
Easy Rewards instead
Outside the teacher season, Staples' general program is Easy Rewards. The 2026 release says it is free to join, members earn points on qualifying purchases, and points can be used in stores, on staples.com and in the Staples app. Staples lists a long set of purchases that do not earn points, including gift cards, postage stamps, clearance items, taxes, shipping fees, protection plans and purchases made on third-party sites or marketplaces.
Tips for teachers
- Get the Staples app before the back-to-school season, since the coupon has lived there.
- Keep your school ID handy; both releases ask for a teacher ID at checkout.
- Save the one-time coupon for your biggest classroom trip of the summer.
- Join Easy Rewards for the rest of the year.
