Target Military Discount, How It Works
Target's military discount runs through Target Circle: verify your status once, then get member offers and a lower Target Circle 360 price.

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of Target's military verification help page, its Military Appreciation page and two Target press releases from 2026, read on October 26, 2026. The official pages are the ones that apply; check them before you shop.
Does Target have a military discount?
Yes, but it is not a flat percentage taken off every receipt. Target ties its military savings to Target Circle, its free loyalty program. You verify your military status in your Target account once, and the discounts then show up as Target Circle offers and bonuses when a campaign is running. Target's Military Appreciation page says military members, veterans and family members can save all year.
Who qualifies
Target says Target Circle members who are active duty or veteran service members are eligible, along with one dependent. You need a Target Circle membership first; it is free to join.
How to verify
- Target app: open the My Target tab, tap Settings (the gear), then choose Military verification under Your discounts.
- Target.com: sign in, open Account, then Settings, and pick Verify status in the Military part of the Discounts section.
Target uses SheerID, an outside verification service, to check your details. Enter your name exactly as it appears on your documents; nicknames and typos are the usual reasons a check fails. If you are asked for a document, it must show your name, branch, current tie to the armed services and, for veterans, the discharge date.
| Service members | Veterans and retirees |
|---|---|
| Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) | DD214 |
| ARB, ERB or ORB record brief (Army) | Driver's license or state ID with a veteran mark |
| Reserve activation orders | Veteran Health ID Card or Veteran ID Card |
| Enlistment contract | VA disability letter, among others |
What you get
- Lower Target Circle 360 price: verified military members pay $49 a year or $4.99 a month for Target Circle 360, against the regular $99 a year or $10.99 a month. The discount lasts while you stay eligible. Circle 360 adds free shipping, same-day delivery and monthly freebies.
- Seasonal bonuses: Target runs military appreciation offers at set times. For example, Target's June 2026 press release announced 20% off one qualifying storewide purchase from June 21 to July 4 for verified military members, veterans and their families in Target Circle.
Target's help page says a bonus appears in your account only while a live campaign is running, and can take up to 1 hour to show after you verify. Outside those windows, there may be no military bonus to use.
If the discount does not show
Check that your verification went through and that you are signed in to your Target Circle account. If it still is missing, Target points you to SheerID's help center for verification trouble and to Target's own Help Center for a missing bonus.
