Discounts change. This is a summary in our own words of Target's College Student Appreciation page and its Target Circle help pages, read on October 26, 2026. The terms on Target's pages are the ones that apply.
Does Target have a student discount?
Yes, for college students, but not as a flat percentage off every purchase at the register. Target runs it through Target Circle, its free loyalty program. You verify that you are a college student in your Target account, and the verified status then unlocks two things:
| What you get | Details from Target's pages |
|---|---|
| Cheaper Target Circle 360 | $4.99 a month, against the regular $10.99, or $49 a year in place of $99 |
| Student deals | Member-only discounts and rewards shown to verified students in Target Circle |
The student page itself does not list a fixed discount rate for the deals; they change and appear in your account once you are verified.
How to get it
- Join Target Circle for free at Target.com/circle or in the Target app.
- Verify your student status from Target's College Student Appreciation page, which links to the verification step in your account settings.
- For the Circle 360 price, Target's help page says to choose the monthly plan when you enroll after verifying.
- Shop signed in online, or give your phone number at checkout in store, so the deals apply.
What Circle 360 adds for students
Circle 360 is Target's paid membership. Members get same-day delivery on orders over $35 from Target and other local stores through Shipt, free 2-day shipping on many items, an extra 30 days for returns and a monthly freebie picked on the first of each month. Without it, Target charges $9.99 per same-day delivery order over $35. New members can try it free for 14 days.
What happens when you graduate
Target's terms say the discounted price lasts as long as you stay eligible. If your eligibility changes, the membership renews at the regular price of $10.99 a month or $99 a year and keeps charging automatically until you cancel. Put a reminder in your calendar near graduation.
Other ways students save at Target
- Free Target Circle deals apply to everyone who joins, student or not, along with a birthday reward such as 5% off a purchase.
- Target Circle Card: 5% off at Target, and it also unlocks the $49 a year Circle 360 price.
- The same price for other groups: verified teachers, military members and government assistance recipients get the same Circle 360 rate.
Is this the right discount for high school students?
Target's page is for college students. It does not describe a verified status for high school students, so they get the regular Target Circle deals.
