Discounts change. This is a summary in our own words of Target's Teacher Appreciation and Military Appreciation pages, its Target Circle 360 page and its corporate giving page, read on October 26, 2026. Target's own pages have the final word.

Does Target have a teacher discount?

Yes, through Target Circle, Target's free loyalty program, rather than as a fixed percentage at the register. Teachers verify their status in their Target account, and the verified status unlocks:

BenefitWhat Target's pages say
Teacher dealsExclusive discounts and rewards for verified teachers, shown in Target Circle
Cheaper Circle 360$49 a year or $4.99 a month, against the regular $99 a year or $10.99 a month

The teacher page does not publish a set discount rate for the deals; they change over time and show up in your account after verification.

How teachers sign up

  1. Join Target Circle for free at Target.com/circle or in the Target app.
  2. Verify as a teacher from Target's Teacher Appreciation page, which links to a teacher verification step in your account settings.
  3. Shop signed in online, or enter your phone number at checkout in store, so the deals apply.
  4. Optional: join Circle 360 at the verified price for same-day delivery, free 2-day shipping, an extra 30 days for returns and monthly freebies.

The reduced Circle 360 price lasts as long as you stay eligible. If your status lapses, Target renews the membership at the regular price until you cancel.

Is there a Target first responder discount?

Not as a verified status. On October 26, 2026, Target listed four verified groups for its Target Circle pricing: teachers, military, college students and government assistance recipients. First responders, nurses and other health care workers were not on that list, and the Target pages we read did not describe a separate first responder discount.

First responders who also serve in the military, or are veterans, may qualify through Target's Military Appreciation page, which covers military members, veterans and their families. Everyone can still use the free Target Circle deals and the Target Circle Card, which takes 5% off at Target.

Target Teacher Prize and classroom help

The Target pages we read on October 26, 2026 did not describe a current "Target Teacher Prize" or other prize program for individual teachers. What Target's corporate giving page does describe is help for schools:

  • An accredited school or a 501(c)(3) nonprofit can request a Target GiftCard donation at any Target store, using a printed request form and proof of status.
  • Requests are taken February through December, as funding permits.
  • Target puts the average donation at $25 to $50, with a maximum of $500 per year for each organization.
  • Stores typically take up to 30 days to answer, and Target does not donate merchandise.

Target Circle members can also vote to steer Target's community grants to local nonprofits.
