What time does Walmart open and close?
Most Walmart stores open at 6 a.m. and close at 11 p.m., every day of the week. TODAY reported that schedule in July 2026, citing a Walmart spokesperson, and GOBankingRates gives the same hours for most Supercenters. GOBankingRates adds that some Neighborhood Markets keep shorter hours, for example 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Departments inside the store run on their own schedules. TODAY lists pharmacy, optical and auto care as departments that may keep different hours from the main store. If you need a prescription or a tire service late in the day, look up the department hours, not just the store hours.
Holiday hours and closures in 2026
Walmart said in its October 2026 holiday newsroom post that stores will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas again this year, so associates can spend the day with their families. In 2026 those days fall on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, December 25.

For the last holiday season, TODAY reported, citing a Walmart spokesperson, that stores opened on Black Friday 2025 from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., the same as regular hours. Walmart's October 2026 post does not list Black Friday 2026 hours, so check closer to the date.
