Store services change. This is a summary in our own words of IKEA's US customer service FAQ, its delivery and pickup terms, and the IKEA Family page, read on October 27, 2026. The official pages and your checkout are the ones that apply.
Two ways to pick up
IKEA US has two pickup services. At checkout, choose Pick up at IKEA for an IKEA location, or Pick up at a location nearby for a third-party point.
| Collect at IKEA | Collect Near You | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | IKEA stores and other IKEA branded locations | Third-party points, such as FedEx or some warehouses |
| Cost | Free for IKEA Family members, $2 otherwise | Varies by location |
| Minimum order | None | $35 merchandise subtotal |
| Time to collect | Within 24 hours of the ready email | 5 days from arrival, per the FAQ |
Collect at IKEA
The FAQ says pickup is available at all IKEA stores in the US. Since April 15, 2026, IKEA Family members get Collect at IKEA free at IKEA branded stores, if they sign in or give their member number before ordering. Others pay $2, according to the FAQ. The pickup terms say orders can also be collected at some Plan and order points, IKEA warehouses, and select Best Buy stores in certain Florida and Texas zip codes.
Each store has a limited number of pickup slots per day, and a daily cap on how many of an item can be sold for pickup. When either is reached, checkout shows a capacity warning or the item as out of stock, even if the store has it on the shelf. The FAQ has separate notes for the Las Vegas and Merriam stores.
Pay in full when you book, then wait for the email saying your order is ready; do not go to the store before it arrives. The terms then give you 24 hours to collect during store hours. Unclaimed orders are restocked and refunded under the return policy.
Collect Near You
This option uses third-party locations. The order needs at least $35 of merchandise after discounts, coupons and credits; gift cards, taxes, delivery and service fees do not count. IKEA Family members get a discount on eligible orders. You get an email or text when the order is ready. The FAQ gives 5 days from the order's arrival to collect it; after that, IKEA returns the order and refunds your original payment.
What to bring
For both services, you or your alternate collector (18 or older) need a government-issued photo ID and the order confirmation or order number. The alternate collector must be named at checkout. IKEA cannot change that person after payment, so the FAQ suggests canceling and placing a new order if plans change. Think about the size of your vehicle, since flat packs can be long and heavy.
Changes and returns
Once payment is collected, IKEA cannot switch a delivery order to pickup or add items; you would have to cancel and order again. Pickup orders can be returned in store. Returns are not accepted at IKEA Pick Up Point or Planning Studio locations. See IKEA Return Policy and IKEA Delivery.
