JCPenney Coupon Policy, Explained

JCPenney lets you use more than one coupon if each is a different type, takes dollar-off offers before percent-off ones, and excludes many brands and deals.

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of the JCPenney Coupons page, its coupon fine print and the Coupon Exclusions page, all read on October 27, 2026. The official pages and the terms on each coupon are what apply at checkout.

Where JCPenney coupons work

The coupons page sorts offers into three groups: online codes, in-store offers and other offers, such as JCPenney Salon and JCPenney Portraits deals. Some coupons work only online, some only in a store, and some in both places. For a store-only coupon you can print the barcode at home or show it in the JCPenney app at checkout. Online codes are typed in at checkout on jcp.com.

Can you stack JCPenney coupons?

Yes, within limits. JCPenney says you can use more than one coupon at a time as long as each offer is a different type. The order at checkout is set:

  1. A percent-off or dollar-off coupon comes off first.
  2. Any rewards you have earned are applied next.
  3. Free shipping is added last, if the order qualifies.

The fine print of the coupons we read adds two details. Dollar-off offers, including JCPenney CashPass Rewards, are taken before companywide percent-off discounts or coupons, and a coupon cannot be combined with another coupon. Earned CashPass Rewards, however, can be used together with a coupon.

CombinationAllowed?
Two offers of different typesYes
A coupon plus earned CashPass RewardsYes
Two coupons togetherNo

Coupons on sale items

JCPenney says many coupons can be used on top of sale prices. Each coupon has its own terms, so read them before you count on the extra savings.

What coupons do not cover

The Coupon Exclusions page lists pricing types, services, brands and categories that are not eligible for coupons or promotional discounts. Among the excluded pricing types and services:

  • Best Value, Doorbusters, Daily Deals, Clearance and Limited Time Specials
  • Black Friday Deals and Cyber Deals
  • Purchase protection plans, service plans and in-store services
  • Gift cards and closing store purchases
  • Current orders and prior purchases

The brand list is long and includes Nike, adidas, Levi's, Carter's, Columbia, Skechers and KitchenAid, along with categories such as athletic shoes, electronics, toys and team sports merchandise. A separate section names beauty and salon brands, and stores in Puerto Rico have their own extra exclusions. Some third-party seller items may be excluded too. Each coupon's fine print can add more, so a brand missing from the list is not a promise.

The coupon terms we read also say a coupon cannot pay a credit account balance, has no cash value, and is not given back as cash or credit if you return the item.

How to get JCPenney coupons

  • Sign up for emails or texts. The sign-up box sits at the bottom of jcpenney.com, and JCPenney says it sends coupons for stores and online that way.
  • Check the Weekly Ad. JCPenney says the ad lists current sales and shows whether each promotion runs in stores, online or both.
  • Open the coupons page. It lists current codes and printable barcodes with their end dates.

The coupons page also says new JCPenney credit card holders get 15 percent off their first purchase. Read the card's terms before you apply.
