Lowe's Price Adjustment After You Buy

Lowe's handles lower prices after a purchase through its Lowest Price Guarantee, validated by chat or phone; it posts no fixed price drop window.

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of Lowe's Lowest Price Guarantee page, its Returns help page, its Pickup Options page and its Terms of Use, all read on October 26, 2026. The official pages are the ones that apply; check them before you ask for a refund of the difference.

The short answer

Lowe's own pages answer the question "what if I find a lower price after I buy?" with its Lowest Price Guarantee. You contact Lowe's by chat or at 1-877-465-6937 to have the lower price validated, and Lowe's only accepts the request from the person who made the purchase.

The pages we read do not publish a set number of days for a price drop on Lowe's own price after you buy. Some third-party sites name a window, but they disagree with each other, so we leave the number out. Ask the store or customer care before you count on one.

How the Lowest Price Guarantee works

RuleWhat Lowe's says
ItemIdentical and in stock at the other retailer
PriceA current lower price, item plus shipping or delivery cost
AvailabilityThe competitor must be able to ship it to your location
Proof in a storeShow the ad, website, printout or photo to an associate
Online pricesChat or call 1-877-465-6937 for validation
QuantityLowe's may limit requests to reasonable quantities

The guarantee cannot be combined with any other Lowe's offer, promotion, discount or coupon.

What does not count

Lowe's will not match:

  • Labor, installation and other professional service prices
  • Special order custom products, such as custom cabinets, windows or blinds
  • Discontinued, used, refurbished, open-box, clearance, seasonal, closeout or damaged items
  • Rebates, free offers, Buy 1 Get 1, Buy More Save More, tax-free events and one-time promotions such as Black Friday
  • Prices for select groups, such as military or loyalty members
  • Volume or wholesale pricing, and membership warehouse clubs
  • Marketplace sellers, auction and closeout sites (Lowe's matches items sold by Amazon.com, not by third-party sellers there)
  • Ad errors, credit or financing offers, sales tax
  • Price differences between Lowe's stores or between ZIP codes

Price changes on pickup orders

On its Pickup Options page, Lowe's answers the question of a price drop between ordering and pickup by pointing to the same Lowest Price Guarantee page. It does not promise an automatic change.

Associate price adjustments

Lowe's Terms of Use and its discount fine print refer to associate or manager discretion price adjustments, and they say these cannot be combined with offers such as the military discount or the credit card discount. Lowe's does not publish rules for when a store grants one.

If the price fell and nothing else works

Lowe's return policy lets you return most new, unused items with proof of purchase within 90 days, unless an exception applies. With proof of purchase, a refund usually goes back to the original payment method (Lowe's lists exceptions, such as payment by check), and Lowe's says the money can take up to 7 business days to show, depending on your bank.
